Eternal Forest Apresentaçao de livro e filme

Grátis
Opening event: 21 November 17.30 - film screening, poetry reading and discussion

Between 19-26 November Biblioteca Nacional de Portugal will host the Eternal Forest artist book and film at Sala de Projeções. Every day there will be two film screenings at 10 am and 14.30 pm.

The book and the film are part of an art project by Evgenia Emets, focusing on exploring human relationship with forests and nature, specifically in the context of Portugal's devastating monocultures and ongoing deforestation - from artistic and cultural points of view. The project started as part of an art residency in Gois - Raizvanguarda in May-June 2018, where the artist worked within local community and recorded memories, stories and ideas people have about their forests.

Eternal Forest artist book - with poetry in English and Portuguese, typed on a machine without ink, a blind embossing seen only in special light conditions. The book is hand-sewn, it has an imaginary 'no-borders' map of the 'Eternal Forest' location enclosed and visual poetry calligraphy. Made fully on paper from the abandoned paper factory in Gois in edition of 6, all handwritten.

People share their memories, stories and dreams for the future about forests.

The film is subtitled in both English and Portuguese.

The film has been shown in multiple locations all around Portugal, won Regional prize at CineEco Seia international film festival and continues to generate conversations.
