O francês Jean-Luc Lagarce, um dos dramaturgos mais representados na actualidade, desconstrói nesta obra as normas e usos que hão de ser respeitados em momentos chave da vida em sociedade: o baptismo, o noivado, o casamento e, porque não, a morte. Sobre as mesas, uma mulher descreve-nos o que deveria ser, no seu entender, o comportamento correcto em sociedade.
Este texto parte de um manual com o mesmo título editado em 1889 e escrito por uma inexistente baronesa Staffe. Na realidade, era una mulher da alta burguesia francesa de província que nunca frequentou aquele mundo nobre que descreveu no seu livro.
The Frenchman Jean-Luc Lagarce, one of the most well-known playwrights, deconstructs in this work the norms and uses that will be respected in key moments of life in society: baptism, engagement, marriage and, why not, death. On the tables, a woman describes to us what should, in her opinion, be the correct behavior in society.
This text is part of a manual with the same title published in 1889 and written by a nonexistent Baroness Staffe. In fact, she was a woman of the French upper bourgeoisie who never attended that noble world she described in her book.
