Tudo começa longe, nas terras onde nasce o Sol e onde o mundo dá início aos seus dias. Falar de Sol é falar de Asas. E longe, a Oriente, todos os pássaros são sagrados; são eles que unem a terra e o céu. Lá longe, dizem, o próprio Sol é um pássaro. São histórias de lá, com muitas asas para o pensamento. Ana Sofia Paiva é membro do Instituto de Estudos de Literatura e Tradições da Universidade Nova de Lisboa, que alberga o Arquivo do Conto Tradicional Português, e é responsável pelo Catálogo dos Contos Tradicionais Portugueses com as Versões Análogos dos Países Lusófonos e da cooperativa Memória Imaterial, onde trabalha como investigadora, transcritora e recolectora de folclore poético e narrativo. It all starts far away, in the lands where the Sun rises and the world starts its days. To speak of the sun, is to speak of Wings. And far away, in the east, all birds are sacred; they link the earth to the sky. In that faraway land, they say, the Sun itself is a bird. Stories from far away, to let your thoughts take wing. Ana Sofia Paiva is a member of the Institute for the Study of Literature and Traditions (Universidade Nova de Lisboa (home to an archive of traditional Portuguese folk tales, which it catalogues, along with related versions from other Portuguese speaking countries) and the Memória Imaterial collective, where she researches, transcribes and collects traditional verse and narratives.
