O artista curdo-iraquiano Hiwa K. experiencia o mundo através de uma constante e total reinvenção: dele próprio e da realidade. É um malabarista que procura jogar com o equilíbrio do real, algures entre o facto e a ficção. Nas criações Pre-Image (Blind as The Mother Tongue) e View from Above, para a Documenta 14 em 2017, assume-se como um transeunte, um contador de estórias, um viajante, literal e mentalmente. No seu trabalho a memória transforma-se num material artístico capaz de ancorar a narrativa, tanto no lugar físico da cidade como no domínio imaterial do inconsciente.

Hiwa K. convida-nos para uma viagem que começa com o seu próprio posicionamento artístico, através do qual procura desconstruir o mundo que o rodeia, questionando a pesada sobrecarga dos modelos ocidentais sobre outras configurações culturais.

The Iraqui-Kurdish artist Hiwa K. experiences the world through a constant and complete reinvention of both himself and the world around him, juggling with the equilibrium of reality, somewhere between fact and fiction. In his creations Pre-Image (Blind as The Mother Tongue) and View from Above, made for Documenta 14 in 2017, he took on the role of a passer-by, a storyteller and a traveller, both literally and mentally. In his work, memory is transformed into an artistic material that can anchor the narrative both in the physical place of the city and in the immaterial domain of the unconscious.

Hiwa K. invites us to join him on a journey that begins with his own artistic positioning, and through which he seeks to deconstruct the world around him, questioning the excessive burden that western models place on other cultural configurations.
