Chamou a atenção da crítica e do público quando integrou a formação do veterano trompetista Terence Blanchard, com quem gravou quatro álbuns: «Bounce» (2003), «Flow» (2005), o vencedor de um Grammy «A Tale of God's Will (A Requiem for Katrina)» (2007) e a banda sonora do filme «Inside Man» (2006), de Spike Lee. Nasceu em Seattle, em 1983, e com 14 anos iniciou os seus estudos de piano na Universidade de Washington. Aos 16, mudou-se para a Manhattan School of Music, em Nova Iorque, onde estudou com o pianista Kenny Barron, recebendo diversas distinções, incluindo o Cole Porter Fellow of the American Pianists Association, em 2001. Lançou diversos discos em nome próprio, como «Invisible Cinema», a estreia na Blue Note. Gravou com Christian Scott, Kendrick Scott, Ambrose Akinmusire e Kurt Rosenwinkel. Em 2017, através da ECM, lançou o trabalho «Find the Way», gravado com a formação que apresenta no SeixalJazz. He drew the attention of critics and audiences when he joined the lineup of veteran trumpeter Terence Blanchard, with whom he recorded four albums: "Bounce" (2003), "Flow" (2005), Grammy winner "A Tale of God's Will A Requiem for Katrina” (2007) and the soundtrack for Spike Lee's "Inside Man" (2006).
