A residência da Rádio Quântica regressa ao Lux em setembro, com mais uma mão-cheia de membros da plataforma do underground português. Na Disco: Skalator & YLS x object blue live x Varela No Bar: Romeu x ketia x Florêncio object blue object blue, em minúsculas, é o nome nas bocas dos mais atentos; a sua recente performance foi um dos highlights do respeitado festival Berlin Atonal, onde apresentou o seu live-act a um OHM lotado. O seu disco "REX", editado na londrina Let's Go Swimming, fez disparar o radar de publicações tão diversas e influentes como a Resident Advisor ou a Tiny Mixtapes. O seu som, embora relacionável com house, techno e outras músicas de dança, assenta em estruturas orgânicas e instáveis, conjugadas com uma intenção clara de desafio que coloca as suas edições e actuações bem dentro de território experimental. Para lá da fortíssima impressão artística que rapidamente deixou na scene, object blue tem também sido uma voz difícil de ignorar na denúncia de injustiças amplamente normalizadas no que toca a género e ao distanciamento crescente que o underground da música electrónica tem sentido em relação às suas raízes mais políticas. Skalator & YLS Skalator e Y.L.S. são Gil Bastos e Hugo Santos - dois DJs e produtores portugueses que através do selo Skalator Music têm deixado marca na rota internacional das linguagens mais bass-heavy e dubby da electrónica. Os seus sets visitam vários dos ritmos que associamos à exploração dos sub-graves, sinalizando influências como o drum & bass eterno do selo Metalheadz, de Goldie, ou os esqueletais ataques sónicos de Digital Mystikz e outros titãs da génese do dubstep. Na produção e nas edições do seu próprio selo, Skalator & Y.L.S. trabalham estas mesmas coordenadas com uma sofisticação e sentido de modernidade que os distanciam de formulações mais fluorescentes e cansadas do universo bass. A veia futurista, de composição e técnica complexas, e a espacialidade dub original destes géneros são preservadas enquanto procuram novos caminhos para esta música - que terá no sistema de som da pista do Lux o veículo perfeito para nos atingir no corpo, onde faz sentido. Varela Se há coisa que podemos prometer-vos, é que é do lado de cá da pista de dança que mais se aprende sobre DJing. E foi mesmo assim que tudo começou para o nosso (de mais maneiras do que uma - já que faz parte da família Lux e da família Quântica) Varela. Testemunhou DJ e live sets de alguns dos melhores do mundo, através do seu trabalho com o Lux mas também de noites, festivais e podcasts escolhidos a dedo, porque o bom gosto sempre esteve do seu lado. Foi desenvolvendo assim um ouvido super apurado, que, a par de uma sensibilidade afinada para as melhores texturas, melodias e beats, foram a ferramenta-chave para começar a construir os seus próprios sets, onde a house mais autêntica - pioneira ou vanguardista - anda abraçada ao cold wave, boogie, italo ou techno mais imaginativo. Tem vindo a partilhar essa visão certeira e generosa em cabines e festivais um pouco por todo o país, bem como nas ondas digitais da Rádio Quântica, nos últimos três anos. Romeu A reputação de Romeu enquanto um dos DJs mais activos do underground português começou no sul, no Algarve, a tocar em festas desalinhadas com as expectativas comerciais do vasto circuito turístico da região. A sua paixão exacerbada pelo lado menos explorado de linguagens como o disco, a música house ou o funk é nada menos que virulenta; rapidamente começou a tocar noutras latitutes e a certa altura deixa as praias luxuriantes pela aurora borealis de Oslo, na Noruega de Prins Thomas, Todd Terje e Lindstrom. No seu regresso a Portugal, agora em Lisboa, integrou o colectivo por trás das festas Ela (East Lisbon Afters), juntando regularmente ravers e melómanos para espaços menos óbvios da cidade para uma última dança com a qualidade da música bem no centro da experiência de after-hours. Na Rádio Quântica é o responsável pelo programa Alf Keil, juntamente com outro veterano algarvio, Matizz - e no próximo dia 20 estreia-se no Lux para nos trazer grooves quentes de festa, sem fronteiras. ketia Uma rapariga renascentista por direito próprio, ketia é DJ, produtora, ativista e promotora de festas - e uma das artistas mais activas da nova scene Lisboeta. E também dança mesmo, mesmo bem (a sério), mas isso é natural, já que é uma raver de coração. Um ouvido aguçado para música nova e entusiasmante, lado a lado com uma abordagem curiosa e investida na construção de comunidade dentro da nossa cena musical, são a chave para o seu curto mas frutífero caminho na música. Faz menos de um ano desde sua primeira performance como DJ na festa de techno mina (crew da qual faz parte) e desde então tem estado mais comprometida do que a maioria dos players do nosso underground em criar safer spaces. Por exemplo, fundando a Kit Ket - um coletivo e uma festa que prioritiza a segurança e inclusão de pessoas fem e não-binárias, onde também é residente. K // HOLE é o seu programa mensal na Rádio Quântica onde a ketia, ao lado de seus convidados ou a solo, encontra consolo numa sensibilidade delicada que acreditava perdida através de drones, ambient e mais além. Florêncio Como todas as pessoas que vale a pena conhecer (ou os DJs que vale a pena ouvir), Florêncio tem várias facetas. Umas vezes calmo e racional, é também capaz de se metamorfosear para mostrar um lado muito provocador, arrancando gargalhadas às pessoas à sua volta. É precisamente essa paleta de emoções que Florêncio transporta para a pista de dança. Da contemplação pacífica à explosão de energia, sob a forma de alguma da melhor música que já ouvimos. Varela If there's one thing we can promise you, it's that it's in the actual dance floor that one learns the most about DJing. And that's precisely how everything started for our (in more ways than one - since he is part of both the Lux and Quântica families) Varela. He witnessed DJ and live sets by some of the best in the world, through his work with Lux but also handpicked nights, festivals and podcasts, as good taste has always been on his side. He has thus developed a super-sharp ear that, together with a sensitivity tuned in to the best textures, melodies and beats, were the key to start building his own sets, where the most authentic house - pioneering or avant-garde - can be heard embraced to cold wave, boogie, italo or some of the most imaginative techno. Think Dark Entries but also Strictly Rhythm, in a meeting that is immune to trends but completely modern. Varela has been sharing his acute and generous vision in booths and festivals across the country, as well as in the digital waves of Rádio Quântica over the last three years. Romeu Romeu's reputation as one of the most active DJs in Portuguese underground began in the south, in the Algarve, playing at parties that were un-aligned with the commercial expectations of the region's vast touristic circuit. His passion for the less explored side of languages like disco, house music or funk is nothing short of virulent; so he quickly began to play in other latitudes and at one point decided to leave the lush beaches for the aurora borealis of Oslo, Norway of Prins Thomas, Todd Terje and Lindstrom. Upon his return to Portugal, this time in Lisbon, he joined the group behind the ELA (East Lisbon Afters) parties, regularly joining ravers and music lovers in less obvious spaces in the city for a final dance with quality music right at the center of the after-hours experience. At Rádio Quântica he is responsible for the show Alf Keil, alongside another veteran from the Algarve, Matizz - and on the 20th, he debuts at Lux to bring us borderless hot party grooves. ketia A renaissance girl in her own right, ketia is a DJ, a producer, an activist and a party promoter - and one of the most active new artists on the Lisbon scene. She dances really, really well too (seriously), but we guess that's only natural, since she's a hardcore raver at heart. A keen ear for new and exciting music, alongside a curious, invested approach to community-building within our music scene are key to her short but fruitful path in music so far. It's been less than a year since her first-ever performance as a DJ at the infamous queer techno party mina (a crew she is a part of), and ever since she has been more committed than most underground players to creating safer spaces. For example, by founding Kit Ket - a collective and a party that prioritises the safety and inclusion of womxn and non-binary people, where she is also a resident. K//HOLE is her monthly show at Rádio Quântica where ketia, either side by side with her guests or flying solo, finds solace in a delicate sensibility she believed lost through drones, ambient and beyond. Florêncio Like all the people worth knowing (or the DJs worth listening to), Florêncio has several sides to him. Sometimes calm and rational, he is also capable of shapeshifting into a very provocative self, teasing people around him. It is precisely this emotional palette that Florêncio transports to the dance floor. From peaceful contemplation to explosions of energy, in the form of some of the best music we have ever heard. He is familiar with some of Lisbon's most respected booths, such as Lounge - this experience, coupled with the Orelhão program that he broadcasts live monthly on Rádio Quântica since last summer; to his participation in the editorial project PISTA! alongside Diogo and Tsuri, and his occasional collaboration with record store Peekaboo Records, have contributed to the construction of a sonic world that is his own and gravitates around the most interesting coordinates of House and Disco, with stops by the tropics and informed by the spirit of jazz.
