Fusion of body painting, dance, photography and video art. Vilija Vitkute (https://www.vilijaart.com/) comes to Projecto Agit Lab Alta Villa residence to research and create photo & video project called “Water”. We are looking for 8-10 dancers who will take part in the project under visual direction of Vilija Vitkute, with movement research process led by choreographer Małgosia Suś. Vilija Vitkute and Małgosia Suś worked together several times, during AgitÁgueda 2017 and 2018, and recently for Mènuo Juodaragis Festival in Lithuania. Their artistic languages cross in a way that brings magical and spectacular effects, in the same time raising up important ecological issues. This time the artists will work about climate change and water pollution topics to promote the solutions for global waters’ protection. By creating the videos and photos of body-painted dancers we will tell the story of water as a base of life for humans and all other species. Our aim is to go deeply in the research around water pollution and climate change, open up discussions and reach the final effect - photos and videos - that will be shared in the world. First presentation of the residence results will happen in Agueda. The screening will be introduced with a small scale body-painting and video mapping performance. The project will be supported by excellent artists: curator of Projecto Agit Lab Paulina Almeida, filmmaker Vanessa Fernandes, visual artist Ivo Reis, musicians Pedro Pestana, Luis Leitao and Snorre Sjonost Henriksen.
