*Scrol down for English Este Sistema Agroflorestal é hoje uma das técnicas de plantação mais viáveis do ponto de vista ambiental, social e económico. O plantio é feito de forma sincronizada com espécies agricultáveis (hortaliças e frutíferas) e espécies florestais. Este sistema de plantio é inspirado na forma como as florestas se desenvolvem. A plantação em alta densidade e diversidade só é possível graças à utilização de espécies de ciclo de vida curto, médio e longo, ocupando todos os estratos de uma floresta (rasteiro, baixo, médio, alto e emergente). Respeitando estes princípios otimizamos o aproveitamento da luz do sol e dos recursos hídricos, resultando em plantações agrícolas mais produtivas. Sobre o facilitador: Namastê Messerschmidt, consultor Agroflorestal, possui experiência técnica e prática na implantação e manejo de Sistemas Agroflorestais. É instrutor de Cursos de Iniciação e Cursos Avançados, aplicando no seu dia a dia os ensinamentos de Ernst Götsch e seguindo os seus passos desde há, pelo menos, 18 anos. Conteúdo didático: 1º dia- Introdução aos Princípios da Agrofloresta: Aula teórica sobre os conceitos básicos de implantação e manejo de uma agrofloresta, essenciais para o planeamento e manutenção da produção. Troca de aprendizagens com experiências práticas. Serão abordados os seguintes princípios durante as aulas do primeiro dia: Estratos- como é que as plantas se comportam no espaço, considerando a quantidade e qualidade de luz que as plantas necessitam para se desenvolver com saúde. Sucessão natural- como é que as plantas se comportam ao longo do tempo: quanto tempo demoram para atingir o seu ciclo completo de vida ou até alcançar a maturidade no seu estrato. Cobertura do solo- a importância de manter um solo sempre coberto com matéria orgânica e como planear um sistema para que se tenha sempre o solo coberto. Consórcios- como combinar as plantas numa agrofloresta: explicação e exemplificação de como fazer esta combinação. 2º dia: Planeamento de Plantio e Aula Prática: Os alunos receberão instruções de como planear um consórcio de espécies num sistema agroflorestal aplicando os princípios da agrofloresta - estratos, sucessão e cobertura de solo - tratados no dia anterior. Haverá um exercício prático de planeamento de um sistema, avaliando o objectivo do produtor sobre a quantidade e tipo de produtos a produzir e considerando todas as variáveis da sua propriedade: clima, qualidade do solo, nivelamento do terreno, posicionamento com relação ao sol, etc. Após os planeamentos serem apresentados e discutidos, iniciaremos a implantação da área com: preparo de solo, cobertura do solo e plantio. Preparo do Solo- será explorado o tema de como fazer o preparo do solo adequado para as espécies a plantar e para a área a ser implantada. Compreenderemos quais as características do solo onde se implantará o sistema agroflorestal, como e quando é necessário o preparo, e como usar o sistema agroflorestal para poder recuperar o solo ao longo do tempo. Cobertura do Solo- compreenderemos que tipo de cobertura é mais adequada para as espécies a serem plantadas (mais ou menos trituradas), como obter a matéria orgânica para cobertura do solo no início do sistema e como cobrir canteiros onde será implementada a Agrofloresta. Plantio- implantação prática em campo do planeamento de plantio. 3º dia: Aula Prática, Sistematização e Encerramento: Continuação da implantação da área. Manejo*- explicação teórica, demonstração e aplicação prática de técnicas de poda e manejo da área nas diferentes fases. Sistematização das práticas- revisão e reforço do que foi praticado em campo: dinâmica em grupo. Encerramento: Espaço aberto para perguntas e avaliação. *Caso haja tempo e área disponível. The planting is done synchronously with agricultural (vegetables & fruit) and forest species. This planting system is inspired by the way forests develop. High density and diversity plantations can only be possible though the use of short, medium and long life cycled species occupying all forest strata (low, medium, high and emergent). Increasingly productive agriculture plantations will be possible by following the stated principles, where sun light and hydric resources are optimised. About the facilitator: The agroforestry consultant, Namastê Messerschmidt, has technical and practical experience in implementation and handling of Agrofestry Systems. Namastê has been following Ernst Götsch’s steps for over 18 years and applies on a daily basis Ernst’s teachings as an introductory and advanced Sintropic Agriculture course instructor. Namastê has been supporting valuable projects in Brasil such as: - Cooperfloresta and Mário Lago’s settlement through content writing and consultancy work. - Author of Projecto Agroflorestar’s publications such as the book and several flyers. - Works as a consultant at OCA’s Institute and Fazenda da Toca. - Teaching courses throughout Brazil and around the world, always through the Simbiose Agroflorestal. About Associação Naumanni: Associação Naumanni (migrant Permaculture) wants to be a point of contact where people, experiences and knowledge stroll side by side towards an integrated way of living in the most diverse ecological and social contexts. Reflorestar Portugal’s input: This course occurs from the need to contribute to the reconstruction and appreciation of the soil’s productive potential, by promoting environmental regeneration through its the cultivation. Didactic content: 1st day- Introduction of the Agroforestry Principles: Theoretical lecture of the essential concepts of implementation and management of an Agroforest production. Exchange of knowledge through practical experience. The following principles will be addressed during the 1st day of classes: Strata- How plants behave in their environment. Considering the quantity and quality of light that the plants need to be healthy. Natural succession- How plants behave across time. How long it takes them to reach their full life cycle or how long it takes until they reach maturity in their stratum. Mulching- The importance of keeping the soil covered with organic matter and how to plant a system whilst always keeping the soil covered. Consortia- How to combine plants in an Agroforest: explanation and exemplification on how to make the combination. 2nd day- Planting planning and practical lesson: The students will get instructions on how to plan a species consortia in an agroforestal system while applying agroforestry principles - strata, succession and mulching - taught on the previous day. There will be a practical system planning exercise evaluating the producer’s goal regarding the quantity and type of products being produced and considering all variables of his property: climate, soil quality, ground levelling, positioning considering the sun, etc. We will initiate the implantation of the area (soil preparation, mulching and planting) after the plans are presented and talked over. Mulching: We will explore how to prepare the ground for the species to be planted and the area to be located. Understanding of the characteristics of the soil where the agroforestry system will be implemented, how and when it is necessary to prepare, and how to use the agroforestry system to recover the soil over time. Soils covering: We will understand what type of cover is most suitable for the species to be planted (more or less crushed), how to obtain the organic matter to cover the soil at the beginning of the system and how to cover the beds where Agroforestry will be implemented. Planting - practical implementation of planting planning on the field. 3rd day- Practical class, Systematisation and Closure: Ongoing implantation of the area. Management*: Theoretical explanation, demonstration and practical application of pruning and management techniques of the area in the different phases. Systematisation of the practices - Review and reinforcement of what was practiced in the field: group dynamics. Closing: Questions and evaluation. *If there is time and available area.
