Climate change is one of the biggest global challenges the world will be facing for years to come. There is no stopping it at this point. All we can do is adapt and work to mitigate its effects. In order to share knowledge on the subject, particularly with the future generations that will surely feel the most dangerous effects of climate change, the Estoril Conferences will be hosting an encounter that will have as its mains speaker Dr. Rajendra Pachauri, former president of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, Nobel Peace prize laureate (2007) and founder and main mentor of the Protect Our Planet movemen who will be focusing his attention to the “Southern Europe: a hotspot for climate change”, during the 2nd panel of the encounter. The first panel will turn its attention to the “role of local governments and the strategies to be implemented in the context of climate change effects”, with a specific emphasis on Cascais, as one of the few municipalities in Portugal with an office devoted to climate change. Admittance is free and the conference will be in English. Those interested in assisting please confirm your presence to info@conferenciasdoestoril.org until March 16th.
