Hoje, passados já alguns anos, a memória desses tempos alegres e despreocupados, vem reforçar a noção de “praia” como o lugar de desejo por excelência: É o “Éden” contemporâneo, o lugar utópico de bem-estar, onde o tempo abranda e todo o desassossego abre um parêntese à possibilidade duma felicidade perene. É também, no contexto local, o sítio problemático da reclamada reabilitação ambiental, que ameaça modos de vida e o rendimento da população. Tudo isto, Ana André aborda — como é próprio da pintura —, pela luz. É a luminosidade estranha e fugaz do anoitecer, de fronteira, onde as cores mudam a cada minuto e o mundo com elas, abrindo um universo de possibilidades inesperadas... Sobre a artista Ana André é natural de Faro, cidade onde actualmente vive e trabalha. Estudou Pintura e Desenho no Ar.Co em Lisboa e Artes Visuais na Universidade do Algarve. Expõe desde 1995, em exposições individuais e colectivas em Portugal e no estrangeiro. A sua obra é desenvolvido essencialmente através de pintura e desenho, embora ocasionalmente utilize a fotografia, o som e o vídeo. Today, some years later, the memory of those happy and carefree days bolsters the notion of “beach” as the place that everyone desires; it is the modern “Eden”, a utopian place of well-being, where times slows down and every concern offers a window of opportunity for everlasting happiness. And also, in a local context, the problematic site of the demanded environmental rehabilitation, which threatens the population’s ways of life and income. Ana André touches on all of this – as one would expect in paintings – through light. It is the strange and fleeting luminosity of dusk, of border, where the colours change with every minute and the world changes with them, opening up a universe of unexpected possibilities... About the artist Ana André was born in Faro, the city where she currently lives and works. She studied Painting and Drawing at Ar.Co in Lisbon and Visual Arts at the University of Algarve. She has been exhibiting at individual and group exhibitions in Portugal and abroad since 1995. Her work essentially focuses on painting and drawing but she occasionally uses photography, sound and video too.
