It combines gentle body movements with natural breathing and clear intention. This way it helps the body and mind to be strong and healthy while it cultivates a deep feeling of harmony, relaxation and well-being. The movements are circular and harmonious, like those of a beautiful slow dance. The intensity of the exercise is low to moderate and helps improve posture, balance, stability, strength and flexibility without the risk of being injured. It also improves the function of the cardiovascular and nervous systems. It helps reduce chronic pain and prevent osteoporosis. The deep and natural breathing pattern and mind-focus has remarkable effects in releasing tension and eliminating anxiety. Thus being ideal for stress management in everyday life. Its health benefits are already being proven by various scientific studies all around the world. BBC News reported in September of 2015: “Tai Chi should be prescribed for illnesses”. And the even better news is that “Tai Chi is suitable for everyone”. Man or woman, short or tall, heavy or light, weak or strong, young or old. All can enjoy and all can benefit from this beautiful art. STRUCTURE - Basic theory; - Warm-up set: a set of specially selected exercises to prepare the body and mind for Tai Chi practice. It can also be used as a stand-alone set of gentle workout for general health and rejuvenation. - ‘Daoyin Baojian Gong’ Qigong: a beautiful moving Qigong routine characterised by its fluid movement and its beneficial effects on general health and well-being. - 'Wuji' Zhan Zhuang: a fundamental 'Standing Pole’ (non-moving Qigong) exercise for developing strength and stability in the legs and rebuilding correct postural and breathing habits. - The 'Taiji feeling' Qigong set: a beautiful, easy-to-learn taiji/qigong set. - The 6 Movements Form: a preparatory form consisting of 6 essential movements of Tai Chi: 1. Beginning of Taiji, 2. Grasp Sparrow's Tail, 3. Single Whip, 4. Raise Hand and Step up, 5. White Crane Spreading Wings, 6. Close Taiji. PURPOSE 1. to introduce the participants to Tai Chi theory and practice, 2. to help them experience the harmony, balance and state of well-being which is inextricably linked to this unique art, 3. to give them simple but powerful tools to relieve anxiety and improve general health, 4. to provide them with all is needed* to progress in the beautiful art of Wu style Tai Chi. *Supportive material will be available to help participants continue their practice after the workshop. Review - Q&A - Closing THE TEACHER Dimitris Tsolakidis is the 6th Generation of Wu Shi Taijiquan (Wu style Tai Chi), indoor disciple of Master Zhou Zhongfu. He is the head of the Greek Branch of ‘Taiji Jing Xiu Tang’, Founding Member of the ‘Taiji Jing Xiu Tang Union’ and the founder and director of ‘Flow Taiji Center’ in Greece with the purpose of cultivation and dissemination of Tai Chi, Qigong and Chinese culture. He has the 4th Duan in Tai Chi by the Chinese Wushu Association and he is a Certified Instructor by the Hellenic Wushu Kung Fu Federation. In 2017 he won the bronze medal in the 7th World Kung Fu Championships in China, playing the Wu style Taijiquan. His students also achieving wins repeatedly in the National Wushu Championships. For the past 7 years he is committed in teaching Tai Chi and Qigong in private and group lessons in Athens, as well as leading workshops and seminars with greek and international attendees.Suitable for all.
