É o alter ego da produtora lisboeta Inês Coutinho. Além das suas produções e remixes para selos como Wicked Bass, Cómeme, Paraíso, Snuff Trax e a sua One Eyed Jacks desde 2012, no ano passado fundou a sua editora naive, cujo primeiro lançamento 'Togetherness', um disco jungle-inspired, chamou a atenção de DJs como Paramida, Honey Soundsystem, Scuba ou Octo Octa. É também co-fundadora da Rádio Quântica, onde faz curadoria de programas e noites.

Uma visão inclusiva e política da música de dança está presente nos gestos artísticos: tem vindo a lançar uma série de versões de faixas clássicas no Dia Internacional da Mulher em colaboração com artistas de todo o mundo. A cover de 2015 da 'Transition' dos Underground Resistance foi amplamente elogiada - até pelos criadores da faixa original. Ao ouvir 'Transition', Donatella Versace pediu a Violet para produzir música para os desfiles da marca nas semanas da moda de Paris e Milão em 2016 e 2017. Este ano, juntou uma crew ainda maior de artistas e juntas rescreveram 'I Need A Freak' de Sexual Harrassment, 'Promised Land' de Joe Smooth e 'So Get Up' dos Underground Sound of Lisbon.

Os DJ sets de Violet criam viagens sónicas que abraçam house clássica, bem como techno abrasivo, jack beats mutantes e as suas próprias produções melódicas e percussivas e fizeram dela uma escolha regular de clubes e festivais em vários países da Europa, desde o Jaeger em Oslo ao //about:blank, OHM e Atonal em Berlim, Sònar, Corsica Studios em Londres, La Java em Paris são só alguns exemplos. Também faz as suas próprias festas em Lisboa e Londres: a noite Suspiciously Delicious com Elles e Iona, Summer Of Love com as suas A.M.O.R., Mina com Photonz e o colectivo Rabbit Hole.

BLEID, o pseudónimo artístico com que uma das mais entusiasmantes produtoras Lisboetas assina as suas esculturas sónicas, é um nome que se ouve cada vez mais no underground nacional, seja pelo apelo inegável das suas faixas, seja pelas suas actuações inebriantes em formato live act. Por cá, já passou pelo Out.Fest, pelas Noites Príncipe - mas também corre a Europa e já actuou num dos venues do momento em Londres, a Camden Assembly, e o festival austríaco Hyperreality. 

Há quem a compare a Actress ou a Tim Hecker e a associe a coordenadas pós-IDM - BLEID é isso tudo, sim, mas é muito mais. BLEID representa uma nova geração esclarecida e fresca: entende a música como um contínuo que, independentemente da forma, existe para (re)mexer a alma - e por isso pode ir do drone hiper visceral à música de dança mais colorida e sincopada sem comprometer o seu cariz evocativo. Prepara os seus live acts com essa mesma premissa generosa em mente - escreve a música e as modulações de propósito para cada slot que toca, adaptando-se ao line-up em que se insere sem perder um milímetro de feeling. Ciel aka Cindy Li é uma das vozes mais completas da sua geração: a sua curiosidade por sons que transcendem a sua educação isolada e disciplinada de conservatório levaram-na numa viagem que fez escala no post-punk, shoegaze, acid house e techno - uma viagem que continua até hoje. O seu amor pela música e por projectos comunitários inspirou a sua incursão por rádio universitária que acabaria por florescer na sua paixão pelo DJing. Através do seu activismo e visão artística, Ciel tornou-se numa peça-chave na cena musical, que luta incansavelmente pela inclusividade na música de dança enquanto desenha o seu próprio espaço na sua comunidade local de Toronto e no underground global.

Em 2017, mergulhou na produção, lançando um EP de três faixas na Peach Discs, a editora de Shanti Celeste. Apesar de serem algumas das primeiras peças que produziu, Electrical Encounters foi amplamente elogiado pela sua qualidade onírica e evocativa e acabou por figurar em múltiplas listas de melhores de 2017, incluindo na Fact Magazine e na Resident Advisor. A Mixmag acaba também de a considerar um dos nomes a ter em conta para 2018 ao lado de inovadores como Eris Drew e CCL.

Ciel também canaliza o seu fervor por colagens musicais no seu programa mensal para a rádio online n10.as, Work in Progress, onde roda música electrónica underground criada por mulheres. Os seus mixes surpreendentes para plataformas como NTS, Discwoman, Rádio Quântica, The Fader, Ilian Tape, dublab, BCR, Radar Radio renderam-lhe seguidores e respeito, incluindo honras de Mix of the Day na Resident Advisor. Reflectindo o seu background clássico e o seu gosto diverso, os DJ sets de Ciel são elogiados pela sua versatilidade. O seu amor pelo sonhador e pelo estranho já a levou a cabines icónicas como o Smartbar de Chicago, Buttons em Berlim e Hot Mass em Pittsburgh, bem como raves um pouco por toda a a América do Norte. Quando não está a tocar, dedica a sua energia a produzir experiências de clubbing imersivas, dando tanta atenção à curadoria e representação de género, raça e interseccionalidade como faz nos seus próprios DJ sets.

Violet

The alter-ego of Lisbon DJ and producer Inês Coutinho. Besides her productions and remixes for labels like One Eyed Jacks, Cómeme, Paraíso or Snuff Trax since 2012, this year she founded her own imprint naive, the first release being her ‘Togetherness’ EP, a jungle-inspired record that caught the attention of DJs like Paramida, Honey Soundsystem, Scuba and Octo Octa. She is also the co-founder of Rádio Quântica, an independent, online radio station for which she curates shows and regular nights.

A politically-charged vision of dance music is present in her artistic gestures, most famously her series of versions of classic tracks released on International Womens Day in collaboration with artists from around the world with proceeds going to gender equality NGOs. Her 2014 cover of ‘Transition’ by Underground Resistance was widely praised – including by the creators of the original track. When Donatella Versace heard ‘Transition’, she asked Violet to produce music for the brand’s fashion shows in Paris and Milan Fashion weeks in 2016 and 2017. Last year, she got an even bigger crew of artists together and they re-wrote ‘I Need A Freak’ by Sexual Harrassment, ‘Promised Land’ by Joe Smooth and ‘So Get Up’ by Underground Sound of Lisbon.

Violet’s DJ sets create sonic journeys that embrace acid house, creative techno, mutant jack beats and her own melodic, percussive productions and made her a regular choice at clubs and festivals across Europe: from Oslo's Jaeger to Berlin's //about:blank, OHM and Atonal, Sònar festival, Corsica Studios in London, La Java in Paris to name but a few. She also runs her own parties in Lisbon and London: Mina with Photonz and the Rabbit Hole collective, Suspiciously Delicious with Elles e Iona, Summer Of Love with her all-girl crew A.M.O.R..


BLEID

BLEID, the artist name that one of the most exciting Lisbon producers uses to sign her sonic sculptures - is  a name that comes up more and more in the local undeground, be it because of the undeniable appeal of her tracks or because of her inebriating performances in live act format. In Portugal, she's played Out.Fest and the Príncipe nights - but she also tours Europe and has performed in one of London's venues-of-the moment Camden Assembly and Austrian festival Hyperreality.

She's been compared to Actress  or Tim Hecker and associated with post-IDM coordinates - BLEID is definitely all that, but she's lots more. BLEID represents a perceptive, fresh new generation: she understands music as a continuum that, despite of its form, exists to shake the soul - and so it could go from hyper visceral drone to colourful, syncopated dance music without compromising its evocative quality. She prepares her live acts and DJ sets with that same generous idea in mind - she writes the music and its modulations on purpose for each slot she plays, adapting to the line-up she's part of without losing an inch of her feeling. We know she is readying something special for her Santa Apolónia DJ debut. Remember her name, as this is just the beginning.

Ciel aka Cindy Li is one of the most complete voices of her generation: her curiosity for new sounds beyond her isolated and disciplined conservatory upbringing has led her on a journey through diverse styles like post punk and shoegaze, acid house and techno, a journey she's still navigating today. Her love of music and community-building inspired a foray into college radio, which soon blossomed into a passion for DJing. Through her activism and artistry she's become a key player in the music scene, championing for inclusivity in electronic music whilst carving our her own space in Toronto's community and the global underground.

In 2017, she delved into production, releasing a three-track EP on Shanti Celeste's label Peach Discs. Despite the release being some of the earliest music she's ever produced, Electrical Encounters was praised for its dreamy, evocative quality, and ended  up on multiple best-of-2017 lists, including both Fact Magazine and Resident Advisor. Mixmag as just tipped her as one of the names to look out for in 2018 alongside young innovators like Eris Drew and CCL.

Ciel also channels her fervor for creating musical collages into her monthly n10.as show, Work In Progress, where she highlights the best and weirdest in underground electronic music produced by women. Her eclectic mixes for platforms like NTS, Discwoman, Rádio Quântica, The Fader, Ilian Tape, dublab, BCR, Radar Radio have earned her a devoted following and acclaim, including Mix of the Day honours from RA. Reflecting her classical background and a diversity in taste, Ciel's sets have been praised for their versatility. Her affection for both the dreamy and the strange has led to bookings at the legendary Smartbar in Chicago, Buttons in Berlin, and Hot Mass in Pittsburgh, as well as warehouse raves all over North America.

When she's not DJing, she devotes her energy to producing immersive nightlife experiences, bringing the same attention to curation and representation as she does to the pacing and movement of her DJ sets.
