Dois irmãos italianos que até tocavam juntos em bandas e descobriram as batidas sintéticas em 2005. A história parece banal, mas é a história dos Mind Against, que são tudo menos banais.

Das influências de Boards of Canada ao Indie, tudo serve para alimentar o caldeirão musical de Alessandro e Federico Fognini, que em muito boa hora se virou para a música electrónica e haveria de ganhar notoriedade através da Life and Death, editora de DJ Tennis onde também – e ao mesmo tempo – figuravam Thugfucker e Tale Of Us. Pegando nas qualidades intrinsecamente minimais e repetitivas do Techno, os irmãos adicionam melodias mais ou menos sombrias, sonhadoras e emocionais, declarando “missão cumprida” quando alguém se sente mudado pelo que escutou, ou nos seus discos ou pelas suas mãos. Assim, fenómenos de um género que se reinventou, escuro, atmosférico, cheio de texturas prontas a ser exploradas por mentes alinhadas ao psicadelismo, o mundo clama por Mind Against. Neste regresso a única pergunta que fica no ar é se iremos responder à chamada da dupla e parece não haver muita escolha senão um “sim” de coração e ouvidos bem abertos, com toda a gana. De novo dizemos, nada contra e tudo a favor!

Two italian brothers who played together in rock bands and discovered synthetic beats in 2005. The story can seem common, but it’s the story of Mind Against and they’re anything but common.

With influences from Boards of Canada to Indie, plenty goes in the musical caldron of Alessandro and Federico Fognini, who turned to electronic music and would achieve notoriety on DJ Tennis’ Life and Death label, who featured at the same time Thugfucker and Tale of Us. Picking up on the more minimal and repetitive qualities of Techno, the brothers add more or less dark, dreamy and emotional melodies, declaring “mission accomplished” when anyone feels changed by their records or the records they choose to play. Having become a phenomenon of a genre who reinvents itself dark, atmospheric and full of textures and drones ready to be explored by psychedelic attuned minds, the world yearns for Mind Against. For their return to Lux, the only question standing is if we’ll answer their calling and there doesn’t seem to be much of a choice else than a prompt “yes!” with hearts and ears wide open, ready and willing. Once again we say: nothing against, all in favour!
