VANGUARDAS, UTOPIAS E O TEMPO QUE FALTA Uma conversa com António Guerreiro, Fernando José Pereira e Óscar Faria * LOTAÇÃO LIMITADA * ENTRADA LIVRE * No prefácio a uma das obras recentes, Hal Foster escreve: “Tipicamente, a vanguarda é entendida ser conduzida apenas por dois motivos: a transgressão de uma dada ordem simbólica (como com o Surrealismo) ou a legislação de uma nova (como com o Construtivismo Russo). Contudo, a vanguarda que me interessa aqui não é nem vanguarda nem rectaguarda nesses sentidos; antes, é imanente de uma forma cáustica. Longe de ser heróica, não pretende que possa cortar absolutamente com a velha ordem ou encontrar uma nova; em vez disso, procura detectar fracturas que já se encontram no interior de uma ordem existente, pressionando-as ainda mais, mesmo para activá-las de alguma forma. Longe de extinta, esta vanguarda está hoje viva e encontra-se bem.” Será mesmo assim? Num debate por ocasião da exposição “Do tempo exilado ou a emergência da utopia”, o crítico cultural António Guerreiro, o artista Fernando José Pereira e o crítico de arte Óscar Faria irão debater estas e outras questões relacionadas com “Vanguardas, utopias e o tempo que falta”. Resta saber se, tal como Boris Groys nos diz, o comunismo já não é uma “utopia”, visto a sua “encarnação terrestre ter sido completada. Typically, too, the avant-garde is understood to be driven by two motives alone: the transgression of a given symbolic order (as with Surrealism) or the legislation of a new one (as with Russian Constructivism). However, the avant-garde thar interests me here is neither 'avant' nor rear in these senses; rather, it is immanent in a caustic way. Far from heroic, it does not pretend that it can break absolutely with the old order or found a new one; instead it seeks to trace fractures that already exist within the given order, to pressure them further, even to activate them somehow. Far from defunct, this avant-garde is alive and well today." Is it really that way? In a debate concurrent with the exhibition “From the exiled time or the emergency of utopia", the cultural critic António Guerreiro, the artist Fernando José Pereira and the art critic Óscar Faria will discuss these and other issues related to "Vanguards, utopias and time that is missing ".
