O Encontro Internacional de Escolas de Cinema tem lugar, anualmente, no âmbito do Lisbon & Sintra Film Festival e revela-se como uma das secções mais importantes do evento, permitindo a descoberta de novos criadores e a discussão das diferentes visões e formas de ensino nesta área. Contando com a presença de alunos e professores das maiores escolas de cinema do mundo, cada escola apresenta, em sessões abertas ao público, os seus filmes mais representativos. Segue-se a discussão e avaliação por um júri internacional composto por grandes personalidades do cinema e das artes, e responsável pela atribuição do Prémio de Melhor Curta-Metragem. O Encontro terá lugar nos dias 21 e 22 de Novembro no Espaço Nimas. Escolas convidadas desta edição A La Fémis é uma prestigiada escola de cinema francesa. Não só muitos dos realizadores que se formaram nesta instituição são hoje internacionalmente reconhecidos, como Alain Resnais, Theo Angelopoulos, o português Paulo Rocha, François Ozon, André Téchiné, Claire Denis, Andrzej Żuławski ou Arnaud Desplechin, como vieram mais tarde a vencer, diversas vezes, os prémios principais dos festivais de Cannes, Veneza e Berlim. A VGIK (Universidade Estatal Russa de Cinematografia) é a mais antiga escola de cinema do mundo, fundada em 1919, onde leccionaram alguns dos maiores nomes do cinema russo, entre os quais Sergei Eisenstein, Alexander Dovzhenko e Vsevolod Pudovkin. Aí se formaram grandes realizadores como Andrei Tarkovsky, Otar Iosseliani, Sergei Parajanov, Larisa Shepitko, Andrei Konchalovsky, Nikita Mikhalkov, Sergei Loznitsa, Marlen Khutsiev e Elem Klimov. A Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias é uma instituição de referência nos domínios de formação cinematográfica e audiovisual. With the presence of students and teachers from the largest film schools in the world, each school presents, in sessions open to the public, its most representative films. Following is the discussion and evaluation by an international jury composed of great personalities of cinema and the arts, and responsible for the award of the Best Short Film Award. The Meeting will take place on November 21st and 22nd at Espaço Nimas. Guest Schools The La Fémis (École Nationale Supérieure des Métiers de l'Image et du Son, previously called the Institut des Hautes Études Cinematographique) is one of the most prestigious french film schools, based in Paris. Not only did many directors graduate from this institution but are also internationally recognised today, such as the portuguese Paulo Rocha, François Ozon, André Téchiné, Claire Denis, Costa-Gavras, Andrzej Żuławski or Arnaud Desplechin, and also turned out to win, for ten times, the highest awards from the main festivais: the Palme d’Or in Cannes Film Festival, the Golden Lion of the Venice Film Festival, and the Golden Bear from the Berlinale. From the honourable list of alumni of La Fémis there are still incorporated two of the most celebrated european filmmakers - Alain Resnais and Theo Angelopoulos. Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias is a prestigious institution in the fields of cinematographic and audiovisual training in Portugal .
