Captain Casablanca (Efterklang/Liima)

CASPER CLAUSEN (DK) aka CAPTAIN CASABLANCA é o vocalista e fundador dos Efterklang e dos Liima. É também membro fundador do colectivo de radio art "The Lake Radio". Liima estiveram em residência artística em Viseu, nos Jardins Efémeros em 2016. Parte do material que escreveram durante a estadia será lançado brevemente com o novo álbum "1982". Casper vive actualmente em Lisboa onde trabalha no seu projecto a solo.

Casper Says: My first visit to Viseu was last year with my band LIIMA when we were invited to do a residency at Jardins Efémeros. That visit made a great impression on me. I will forever remember and feel grateful for the open arms of Sandra Oliveira and her team. What they create with Jardins Efémeros is truely inspiring and beautiful. Transforming a whole town via endless workshops for kids, inhabiting ruins and presenting the most progressive art, music and performance. There’s a beautiful historical heaviness to the city of Viseu, a noble, hesitant and conservative nature to the city and its people, while their warmth is luring just under the surface. We arrived to Viseu feeling like strangers and left as friends. The process was unforgettable and the show we played there, on the main square is the most epic setting we have ever performed in, in front of the most heartfelt crowd. Therefore I’m extremely happy and excited to return to Viseu, and this time on my own. At the moment I’m working on a solo project, the first in my life. From my small studio on the river bank of Almada, Lisbon, I’m writing material for a new album. The songs and the album is still in progress and the show in Viseu is therefore part of the creation, like it was for LIIMA last year. Also it’ll be the first show I ever perform solo outside of Lisbon. I couldn’t think of a better place to share this new music of mine!
