SPECTATORS, UNKNOWNS, Palestra de Maria Jerez 09 OUT > 21h30 no Ateneu Comercial do Porto Formas que não podemos reconhecer, formas que não podemos nomear, entidades que nos colocam num estado de ignorância. E nessa ignorância, há um abismo. Algo para o qual, os nossos mecanismos de percepção e classificação não funcionam mais. Algo que se quebrou nele em que os cancela. Uma coisa que não pode ser medida, que não pode ser nomeada, que não pertence às ferramentas de medida habituais. Nesse abismo há medo e prazer ao mesmo tempo. Portanto, o espectador dessas formas é um estranho de si mesmo; uma vez que os viu e não pode nomeá-los, o espectador vê-se a ele próprio pela primeira vez. MARIA JEREZ http://mariajerez.tumblr.com Maria Jerez trabalha principalmente na Europa. Ela está interessada no indizível. O seu trabalho está localizado “entre” coreografia, cinema e artes visuais. Ela produziu as peças “The Case of the Spectator”, “This Side Up”, “The Perfect Alibi”, “ba-deedly-deedly-doedly-dum ba-boop-beopop!”, “Alma de Rímel & The Glammatics”, ” BLOB” desenvolvido no seu projeto ” What is Third ” e ” Yabba”. Ela dirigiu o filme “The Movie” (2008) dentro do projeto “The Neverstarting Story”, uma colaboração entre Amaia Urra, Cristina Blanco e Cuqui Jerez, com quem colaborou em múltiplas ocasiões. Ela co-projetou e organizou o Living Room Festival (Madrid) com Cuqui Jerez, Luis Úrculo e Juan Domínguez. Ela é professora de Mestrado em Artes Performativas e Cultura Visual (Madrid). Em 2017, fez a co-curadoria das PICNIC SESSIONS na CA2M, Móstoles, Madrid. Therefore the spectator of these forms is a stranger of herself; since seeing them and not being able to name them, the viewer, sees herself for the first time..
