É das primeiras coisas que vamos ouvir de um leigo quando ele descobre o techno: isto é repetitivo. Os mais perseverantes perceberão, ao fim de uns minutos, que essa característica é precisamente das que lhe dá maior poder. A repetição, no techno, confere-lhe uma capacidade de nos fazer abstrair de tempo, lugar e pensamento que alarga as fronteiras da nossa mente e testa os limites do nosso corpo. Pois bem, se as raízes do techno despontaram em Detroit, foi em Berlim e com a Basic Channel que o techno descobriu a repetição, e um nome brilha à frente de todos como o mestre dessa repetição: Moritz von Oswald, o criador da Basic Channel juntamente com Mark Ernestus.

É por isso paradoxal que Moritz não se considere “um tipo do techno”. Ele classifica-se como alguém “ritmicamente interessado”. Quase 30 anos de história de um género de música pedem licença para discordar, porque tanto do que é o techno, deve tanto ao que Von Oswald dele fez. E podemos falar assim em termos puramente sónicos, porque foi a Basic Channel que percebeu o potencial de tudo o que podia acontecer no espaço entre os beats, como em termos históricos, pois se Berlim é hoje o ponto mais nevrálgico da cena, é porque Moritz foi o maior promotor da aproximação da capital alemã com Detroit. O poder da reverberação e a exploração da espacialidade levaram-no ainda ao respirar orgânico das influências jamaicanas da Rhythm & Sound e à criação da matriz do deep house com a label Main Street. Mas não é só de nostalgia pura que se fará a visita deste monstro sagrado à nossa casa. Von Oswald não perdeu em nada a insaciável urgência de navegar de beat em beat, e ainda debita loops daqueles que dá vontade de deixar rolar horas a fio num PA cheio de sub-bass, como se provou ainda há pouco no seu trabalho conjunto com um dos originadores de Detroit, Juan Atkins, no projecto Borderland.

Da trovejante ‘Phylyps Trak’ à soulful ‘I´m Your Brother’, os ecos de cada ideia e gesto de Moritz Von Oswald reverberarão por uma eternidade que tão bem é evocada pelo poder do loop perpétuo que reside na alma do techno. Levados em vagas sonoras que se expandem do centro da pista até ao infinito, levitamos para lá do horizonte em homenagem ao génio espacial e musical de um pioneiro.

Kinetic 
Kinetic é Nuno Mendonça, figura que ao longo dos últimos anos tem demonstrado uma atenção especial ao panorama Techno e apostado numa sonoridade que ainda há bem pouco tempo era deixada para trás pelas opiniões de muitos, mas hoje parece ter verdadeiramente estoirado no gosto comum.
Curiosamente, as suas pretensões a ser DJ nunca foram exactamente declaradas. Da partilha de mixtapes para os amigos e o circuito online, foi gerando um grupo de seguidores fiéis. Nos inícios eram as influências do fim da idade mais áurea do House Progressivo, quando este virou mais escuro e hipnótico. A progressão natural foi a da redescoberta do Techno – e muito por culpa de Peter Van Hoesen.
A qualidade de trabalho apresentado fez com que desse por si tornado DJ no verdadeiro sentido da palavra, com convites para os principais clubes e festivais do país. Senhor de uma expressão narcótica e detalhada, enganam-se os que julgam que fica apenas pelas batidas mais serenas: é que Nuno, formado nas raves dos anos 90, sabe que também os discos de energia mais ousada têm o seu tempo e lugar.

Enkō
Para aqueles que sentem a música como parte indivisível da sua vivência quotidiana, a sua relação com esta forma de arte assume muitas características de uma relação com alguém que se ama. E em todas as relações feitas de tal entrega, há o receber, e há o dar. Enkō é um daqueles irremediáveis apaixonados pela música para quem, de facto, não basta receber. Ele tem de devolver, se possível em dobro tudo o que ela lhe dá.

É por isso que Marcos Ferreira se tornou, um discreto mas empenhado agitador de uma multitude de formas de entrega a uma causa, na cena electrónica lisboeta. A do techno, essencialmente, mas acima de tudo, da música como forma de expressão da nossa condição emocional e espiritual. Depois de alguns anos passados em Inglaterra, assentou a trouxa em Lisboa e deitou, de forma quase literal, mãos à obra. OBRA é o nome da série de after-hours quinzenais que ajuda a levar a cabo por cá, um espaço em que convictamente e apaixonadamente nos revela pistas do que se faz e se vai fazer no techno nacional, ele e o line-up de que cuidadosamente é um dos curadores. A sua necessidade quase catártica de gritar esta paixão ao mundo também está prestes a encontrar escape através da edição de produções suas em labels nacionais como a Dead Motion e a Sombra, onde revela a sua inventividade estrutural e destreza rítmica. Como não é só no techno que se esgota essa voracidade, Enkō também levou a cabo as matinés Ocaso durante o passado verão, numa exploração caleidoscópica da electrónica.

Enkō é assim um exemplo refrescante de como um fã se torna fazedor. Depois de anos de assobios, braços no ar e solas gastas na pista do Lux, eis que o que era guiado se faz guia dos passos que nela damos. E eis que se prova que a dedicação e perseverança pode levar longe uma paixão, tão longe como Enkō nos levará esta noite.

Moritz von Oswald
One of the first things you´ll hear from a newcomer to techno is : this is repetitive music. The more perseverant will understand, after a few minutes, that this characteristic is precisely amongst the ones that make it more powerful. Repetition, in techno, gives it it´s ability to  makes us abstract from time, place and thought, expanding the borders of our mind and the limits of our body. Well, if the roots of techno broke through in Detroit, it was in Berlin with Basic Channel that techno discovered repetition, and one name shines above all as the master of that repetition: Moritz Von Oswald, creator of Basic Channel along with Mark Ernestus.

It is then paradoxical that Moritz doesn´t think of himself as a “techno person”. He calls himself as someone “rhythmically interested”. Almost 30 years of history of a genre beg to differ, because so much of what techno is, owes so much to what Von Oswald has made if it. And we can talk like that in purely sonic terms, because it was Basic Channel that realized the potential in all that happens in the space between the beats, but also in historical terms, because if Berlin is now that nervous center of the scene, it´s due to Moritz being one of the biggest promoters of the coming together of the german capital with the techno capital, Detroit. The power of reverberation and the exploration of spatiality took him also to the organic breathing of the jamaican influences of Rhythm & Sound and the invention of the matrix of deep house with the Main Street label. But this sacred monster´s visit to our home isn´t just made up of pure nostalgia. Von Oswald has lost none of his insatiable urge to navigate from beat to beat and still pulls out loops of the kind that you want to let roll of a PA full sub-bass for hours on end, as recently proven in his collaboration with the Detroit originator Juan Atkins on the Borderland project.

From the thundering ‘Phylyps Trak’ to the soulful ‘I´m Your Brother’, the echoes of each of Moritz Von Oswald´s ideas and gestures reverberate throughout an eternity so well evoked by the power of the perpetual loop at techno´s core. Carried in sound waves that expand from the center of the dancefloor to infinity, we levitate beyond the horizon in tribute to the spatial and musical genius of a pioneer.


Kinetic

Kinetic is Nuno Mendonça, a DJ who shows special attention towards the Techno panorama, betting on a sound that had been left behind by the tastes of many, but which today seems to have surely exploded in the popular opinion.
Oddly enough, he never explicitly intended to become a DJ. Simply by sharing mixtapes and podcasts with friends and an online circuit, a group of loyal followers was formed. In the beginning, his  influences came mostly from the end of the golden era of Progressive House, when it was at its darkest and most hypnotic point. The natural progression led him towards a rediscovery of Techno.
The quality of his work led to invitations by Portugal’s main clubs and festivals, turning him into a full-blown disc jockey. Owner of a narcotic and detailed tone, one shouldn’t be fooled by thinking he doesn’t go much further: Nuno, who grew up attending 90s raves, knows that sometimes records that output a daring energy have their place, too. This is a perfect opportunity to be submerged in his sounds.

Enkō
For those who feel music as an indivisible part of their daily living, their relation with the art form takes on several characteristics similar to the relationship with someone they love. In all relationships, there´s receiving, and there´s giving. Enkō is one of those hopeless lovers of music for whom receiving is definitely not enough. He has to give back, in double, if possible, all that it gives him.

That´s why Marcos Ferreira has become a discreet but dedicated agitator of a multitude of ways of giving himself to a cause, in the Lisbon electronic scene. That of techno, mainly, but above all, of music as a form of expression of our emotional and spiritual condition. After some years spent in Lisbon, he rested his bags in Lisbon and almost literally started building. OBRA is the name of a series of weekly after-hours parties that he helps put on, a space where he convincingly and passionately reveals to us clues of what´s happening and will happen around here, him and the line-up of which he is one of the thoughtful curators. His almost cathartic need to scream this passion to the world is also about to find a release with productions coming out on home labels like Dead Motion and Sombra, where his structural inventiveness and rhythmic dexterity are well on display. Since this voracity doesn´t stop with just techno, he also put on last summer the Ocaso matinees, a kaleidoscopic exploration of electronica.

Enkō is, then, a refreshing example of a fan becoming a maker. After years of whistles, hands in the hair and worn-out sneakers on Lux´s dancefloor, here is the guided becoming a guide of our steps on it. And here is proof that dedication and perseverance can take us just as far as Enkō will take us tonight.
