Jenny Woo
Biography:
Jenny Woo is a singer/songwriter from Edmonton, Alberta. She started her acoustic oi! project in 2008 and has since toured in over 38 countries and has released 5 albums and 6 singles on various record lables throughout the world. She has taken the traditional themes and energy of the punk rock and oi! movement and combined these with the simplicity and stripped-down nature of folk music. Her songs speak about personal empowerment, identity politics, the destructive qualities of racism and social prejudice, as well as themes of loyalty, pride in oneself, rebellion and community. She has played in punk bands in Canada, notably the Montreal-based punk band Birds of Prey, and currently in an Italian street punk band Jenny Woo’s Holy Flame. She is currently working on her sixth album “Dreams Don’t Die” and is touring extensively in Europe.
