O FIMA 2017 – Festival Internacional de Música do Algarve apresenta o segundo concerto da série “Grandes Quartetos”, com o Quarteto Jerusalém que nos chega de Israel. 
Haydn, Debussy e Beethoven são os grandes mestres a interpretar neste espetáculo. O “Quarteto de Cordas, Op. 64 nº 5” de Haydn, apelidado de “A Cotovia” pela evocação do canto no Allegretto inicial, abre o programa, que segue com o “Quarteto de Cordas em Sol menor” de Debussy, onde as regras da harmonia clássica são abandonadas e se evidencia a influência de Cesar Frank e da sua sonata-cíclica, e encerra com o “Quarteto de Cordas, Op. 59 nº 1”, uma obra em que o lirismo e o bem cuidado desenvolvimento temático se complementam admiravelmente.
O Quarteto de Jerusalém é convidado regular nos grandes palcos mundiais. Estes músicos israelitas embarcaram, em 1996, numa jornada de crescimento e maturidade que tem resultado num vasto reportório e numa extraordinária profundidade de expressão. 

The FIMA – Festival Internacional de Música do Algarve presents the second concert of the series “Great Quartets”, with the Jerusalem Quartet, who comes from Israel.
Haydn, Debussy and Beethoven are the great masters whose works are interpreted in this concert. Haydn’s “String Quartet, Op. 64 No 5”, nicknamed “The Lark” by the evocation of the singing in the initial Allegretto, opens the program. The “Quartet for strings in G minor” by Debussy is the next piece interpreted, in which the rules of classical harmony are abandoned and the influence of Cesar Frank and his use of cyclic form is highlighted. The concert ends with the “String Quartet, Op. 59 No 1” by Beethoven, a work in which the lyricism and the well accomplished thematic development complement each other admirably.
The Jerusalem Quartet is a regular guest in major world auditoriums. The Israeli musicians embarked on a journey of growth and maturity in1996, which has resulted in a vast repertoire and in an extraordinary profundity of expression.
