Organized by TIAB Events and Universidade Europeia's Buddy Program (Lisboa Está Na Moda) Join us for the 1-day trip to contemplate the beauty of the nature in Mira d’Aire limestone caves and the landscapes of Tagus River bank in unconventional way – by kayaking! Check out what’s ahead of you: MIRA DE AIRE CAVES: Mira de Aire caves are the greatest in the country and were discovered in 1947, but it took 6 years to know the entire track, which now is opened to the public. Caves stand out for their indisputable beauty, revealed by the diversified limestone formations, organs, black river, lakes and waterfalls of the “Stalactites’ Route” which consists of a few rooms: the imposing “Big Room”, the magically colored “Red Room”, the sparkling “Jewelry”, the “Majestic Dome” and the abrupt descend to the “Gallery”. Hundreds of meters long track ends at the Great Lake with the final show of water, light and sound. CASTELO DE ALMOUROL: The Castle of Almourol is a medieval castle, erected over granite outcrops and located on a small islet in the middle of the Tagus River waterway. The castle was a part of the defensive line controlled by the Knights Templar, as a stronghold used during the Portuguese Reconquista. It’s one of the most emblematic medieval military monuments of the Reconquista and representation of the influence of the Knights Templar in the rising Kingdom of Portugal. It is believed that the castle was constructed by the ancient tribes and later conquered by the Romans during the 1st century B.C.
