John Talabot + Axel Boman = Talaboman. A "The Night Land" Tour passa por Lisboa, e o Lux é o palco escolhido. Nem sempre juntar dois grandes talentos resulta em algo verdadeiramente notável. Os grandes talentos tendem a ter as suas particularidades, a serem peculiares de algum modo e, claro está, daí pode advir um choque criativo. Mas o bom é que quando acontece estarem alinhados, quando ultrapassam diferenças e as usam para atingirem algo superior, é aí que nos deparamos com colaborações dignas não só de registo, mas de escuta atenta, uma e outra vez. É o caso desta fusão musical entre John Talabot e Axel Boman: Talaboman. O nome pode parecer um bocado parvo, diz Talabot. Mas o sentido de humor de ambos permite que assim se tenham chamado. A cumplicidade vem de uma amizade que nasce de um DJ set de dez horas, em back to back, num qualquer festival, há uns anos. E quando Talabot começou a pensar em temas para incluir na sua edição da compilação DJ Kicks, percebeu que Axel Boman era um dos seus produtores favoritos e essenciais. Remisturaram-se um ao outro, entretanto. E produziram juntos alguns temas, que de “alguns” passariam a ser um álbum inteiro. “The Night Land” saiu já este ano na R&S Records e é fruto de dois amigos, um catalão e um sueco, a explorarem as sonoridades de cada um para encontrar o ponto perfeito de união – ou de tensão – entre ambos, num disco que não tem pressa e apresenta camada sobre camada de detalhe e precisão. Como DJs, confiam instintivamente um no outro e não duvidam do disco que o parceiro irá escolher a seguir. Haverá maneira melhor de dividir cabine com alguém? Não cremos. É uma confiança que não é fácil de ter, mas iremos pisar a pista do Lux sabendo que diante de nós temos uma unidade musical: quatro mãos a trabalhar sem egos, para que nada brilhe mais do que a música em si. Oportunidade mestra para ver dois dos maiores talentos da House Music (e além...) contemporânea. Juntá-los, funciona mesmo. Great talents tend to have their peculiarities in some way and, of course, a creative clash can come from that. But the good thing is that when they find themselves aligned, when they overcome diferences to achieve something bigger, that's when truly remarkable collaborations happen, worthy of praise and careful listening, over and over again. It is surely the case of the musical fusion between John Talabot and Axel Boman: Talaboman. The name can seem a bit dumb, says Talabot. But the pair's good sense of humour allowed it to happen. Their friendship comes from doing a 10 hour back to back DJ set, some years ago, at a festival. And when Talabot was preparing his DJ Kicks compilation, he realized Axel Boman was one of his favourite producers in the whole world. Having remixed eachother, they then started working on tracks together and eventually an album was born. “The Night Land” was released this year on R&S Records and is the result of two friends exploring their own sound to achieve a perfect point of union – or tension – between them, in a record that shows no hurries and presents layer over layer of detail and precision. As a DJ duo, they trust instinctively in eachother and don't doubt what choice of tune will come up next. Is there as better way to share a booth with someone? We don't think so. It's a trust that's not hard to have, but we will step on Lux's dancefloor knowing that in front of us, in the DJ booth, there'll be an entity of four hands working without egos, so that nothing else shines above the music itself. A major opportunity to see two of House music's greatest contemporary talents. Getting them together really works. Now, we just need to join them in the celebration. - Inês Duarte
