Se da última vez dissemos “nada contra, tudo a favor”, desta vez ainda menos contra há. Porque a anterior vinda parece ter surtido efeito: já se sente um burburinho nas pessoas que, entre elas ou directamente a esta escriba vão perguntando, ansiosas: “vais a Mind Against? Temos de ir a Mind Against!” Quando assim acontece sabemos que resultou não só o talento nato de quem convidamos a dar música às nossas pistas como, claro está, também a aposta feita no convite. Uma aposta que reconhece os irmãos Alessandro e Federico Fognini como uma jovem (começaram apenas em 2011) dupla mas à qual os anos que levam de trabalho não são proporcionais àquilo que se tornaram à escala mundial. Fenómeno explosivo, Mind Against são fruto do protectorado da Life and Death, editora de DJ Tennis onde na qual também floresceram Tale of Us, entre outros. Ao contrário do que se possa pensar, no entanto, o uso da palavra explosivo aqui não significa que abusam da música que vence pela força. Eles levam-nos à certa, sim, mas num hipnotismo de melodias simples mas eficazes e cativantes, ou com notas quase imperceptíveis repetidas no sítio certo, com percussões que vão por aí fora sempre mudando em algum detalhe, agarrando-nos e levando-nos num turbilhão movido a linhas de baixo incansáveis que nos carregam para diante, abusando das características do espaço envolvente e brincando com os efeitos sonoros que a era digital torna tão fácil existirem mas que exigem operadores sábios para se tornarem em ferramentas dignas de transformarem qualquer som num momento chave para uma pista de coração aberto. É tempo de nos rendermos e confiarmos: Mind Against levam-nos a bom porto. - Inês Duarte \\ ENGLISH // If on their last visit to Lux we wrote “nothing against, all in their favour”, this time there’s even less against them. That visit seemed to have an effect on people, since they’re not only generating buzz amongst friends but even asking this scribe: “are you coming to Mind Against? We must go hear Mind Against!”. When this happens we know something worked: not only the sheer talent of the artists we invite over, but also that the invite itself was right. And this return recognizes brothers Alessandro and Federico Fognini as a young (they only started in 2011) duo for whom the years of experience do not equate what they’ve become on a global scale. An explosive phenomenon, they’re a product of the Life and Death protectorate, having grown on DJ Tennis’ label just like Tale of Us. But contrary to what you might think, the use of the world “explosive” doesn’t mean they’re abusers of those kinds of tracks that conquer us by brute force. They take us, instead, in a hypnotic voyage of simple yet efficient and haunting melodies, or repeated notes sounding just in the right place, percussions transformed in every little detail and basslines carrying us into a vortex that is even amplified by the use of modern era digital effects – effects that seem so simple to use but require truly masterful hands to be turned into tools able to transform simple sounds into defining moments for an open-hearted dancefloor.
