Homework 20 Anos com: Cpt.Luvlace Dinis DJ FALCON Dupplo Midnight Moullinex Pinkboy Pode-se falar de Daft Punk sem falar de DJ Falcon, mas ia ficar estranho, porque os pontos de contactos são muitos. E numa festa onde se querem celebrar os 20 anos do icónico Homework, Falcon pode muito bem ser essa ligação entre um álbum endeusado e o contexto maior onde ele se insere – não tendo participado no mesmo mas sendo figura activa na cena electrónica francesa que tomaria o mundo de assalto. Esse tal de “french touch”. Das partilhas das tropelias de juventude com Busy P, saltou do skate para os gira-discos e dos gira-discos para a Roulé, editora de Thomas Bangalter (um dos Daft Punk, para os mais distraídos, e com quem também teria o projecto “Together”). O primo? Alan Braxe – outra figura chave – e parece que só descobriram que andavam ambos de volta das batidas sintéticas, quando por acaso lançaram temas na mesma label. Falcon esteve “sempre lá” e andou a juntar paixões e hobbies e continuou a remisturar e a pôr música. Não admira, portanto, que em Random Access Memories, o mais recente álbum de Daft Punk com colaborações escolhidas a dedo, ele apareça para o tema “Contact”, um pouco a fazer voltar o ciclo ao início, e a ser, por sua vez, reconhecido. Estamos em pulgas para ouvir esta sua versão do que é, afinal, o som francês quando de House se fala. Fácil de esperar batidas grandes, samples de disco ou manipulados à exaustão ou tão óbvios que provavelmente são ilegais, sintetizadores duros e muita, muita energia pura. Para esta noite de festa, DJ Falcon é o homem certo. - Inês Duarte \\ ENGLISH // You can talk about early Daft Punk without mentioning DJ Falcon, but it’d be a bit weird, considering there are many shared moments and people. And at a party where the aim is to celebrate 20 years of Homework, Falcon can very well be that connection between a worshipped album and the bigger context where it fits – not having taken part in it directly, but being one of the key player’s on the electronic French scene that’d end up being called “French touch” and take on the world. From sharing shenanigans with Busy P, he went from skateboards to turntables and then on to releasing on Roulé, Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter’s label, with whom he’d also share the Together project. His cousin, Alax Braxe, was also getting into music producing and they’d only figure it out when they released on the same label. Falcon was always around combining his passions and hobbies and kept on remixing and playing out. It’s no wonder then that in Random Access Memories, Daft Punk’s latest album which featured carefully curated collaborations, he I there to lend his creativity on the track “Contact”, a bit like coming full circle and also being acknowledged. We can’t wait to hear his own version of the French House sound – and bangin’ beats, mangled disco samples (or so obvious ones which could really be illegal), harsh synths and lots of raw energy are to be expected.
