In this performance, The Three Marias show that they can invent new words, new meanings, and more important than that, new roles. The three characters are fighting with visions and voices, painful memories, sexual discovering, games, changing points and growth inside of the Hospital room. The sounds, the video and the live music will transport us into their surreal world. The Three Marias have 8 crewmembers from Portugal, Georgia and Norway. This young group of artists are presenting a new version of the play earlier performed in Conde Ferreira, Porto. The group has been working intensely since October 2016 and the new adaptation will premiere in January 2017 in Porto, Portugal. The staging includes a wide range of artistic elements such as live projection, live music, pre-recorded audio visuals and text interpretation. The objective is to show people how humans label and become labelled, and to do this the artists will present their audience with questions, not answers. They want to create a surrealistic atmosphere; in a psychiatric hospital where every individual have a diagnoses, everyone is labelled – even the audience is diagnosed and will be a part of the game. In addition to the play, students from Belas Artes are filming the rehearsals, meetings and thereby documenting the process from text to stage. They will use this material in a documentary about the project.
