She was right there in the epicenter of the city's scene, frequenting some of the parties where digging culture and expansive soul music are celebrated the most: Benji B's Deviation, the Eglo parties - the label that Floating Points and Alex Nut founded together - and clubs like Plastic People. These experiences informed her musical output as a composer and as a DJ: a sonic fabric that is as urban as it is cosmic, equally respectful of the past and aware of the future. Her 2014 EP, Portrait 01, stimulated a well-deserved buzz in the global underground. The record includes two tracks that are co-produced by Sam Shepherd, a.k.a. Floating Points, and it vibrates in the delicate, harmonious and deep way that one would expect from a true soul child of London's electronic scene. EN To be a relevant London soulboy is no easy task; the city has a long tradition of obsessive collectors of the best black music and copies of the rare original editions, traded for unbelievable prices, never last long in the city's best record shops. To DJ Red Greg, however, collecting and uncovering soul, funk, boogie and disco's best kept secrets is as natural as breathing. But Darren Griffiths - his real name - is much more than a collector; his first DJ gig was back in 1985 and since then he turned into a lethal disc jockey, with more than enough technique and instinct to give his record collection a life of its own, delighting the most discerning music lovers and the most nonconforming dancers in its wake. Alongside DJ Louie Heel, Red Greg runs his own night in London, Ebonite, and has played in some of the planet's most respected parties like New York's 'Love Chant', Paris' 'Mona', 'Club Sandwich' and Maxim's'. He is also the curator behind Z Records' compilation "Under The Influence".
