“Kaleidoscope” - the psychedelic night experience in Lisbon is back! After have taken Reverence Valada Festival nights to the clymax, the party returns to Sabotage Club in Lisbon!
This time with a very special guest: AL LOVER (San Francisco-US /Levitation/Reverberation Appreciaton Society/ Psych Army...)
Al Lover is a producer from San Francisco, that over the last few years has gained notoriety for his melding of contemporary and past garage and psychedelic rock into harsh yet spacey abrasive beats. Influenced as much by The 13th Floor Elevators as DJ Shadow, Al Combines crunchy drums, shaky percussion, chopped samples and layers of textured effects to create an unexplored path for psychedelic music.
His newest project, ‘Zodiak Versions,’ sees Al exploring what he views as two musical styles that have defined modern underground music culture, Jamaican Dub Reggae and the German experimental “Krautrock” from the 1970’s. An experiment in maximized minimalism. Subtlety and nuance hidden within an intense wall of sound, as if the psychedelic aspects of everything that influenced the record have been extracted and reconfigured to produce the sonic dub version of a bad trip.
“Zodiak Versions was made as an homage to the influence of certain German, Jamaican, English and American musicians in the 1970s. Without these innovative and strange people and their contributions to music and art nothing in pop culture would be as it is today. I feel forever indebted to those who came before to pave the way for the truly strange and beautiful music that remains undefined by genres yet embraces it's influences." Al Lover.
He will be joined by your usual host Dj a boy named Sue (21st century rock'n'roll gipsy time-machine) and by the two-screen video projections of Lena Huracán (expert in the art of painting images like sound mirrors and voodoo drummer from Brazil).
So join us once more on a celebration of the Psychedelia culture through a trip of senses, colors and sounds, beginning in the 60s - with Syd Barrett, Love and Os Mutantes, blinking an eye to the far east sitar sounds – traveling through Spacemen 3 and Sonic Youth, and reaching the new ways of Psych Music, reborn with Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Temples, Black Angels, Moon Duo, Jacco Gardner or La Femme.
