Sublinhe-se a seriedade com que se deve pronunciar este nome: Petar Dundov. Merece ele que comecemos por não fazer apenas o elogio do techno pelo techno, pelo conceito de encher a boca ou o ouvido. Mas falemos seriamente sobre a distinção que nos proporciona, ao revolver-nos o corpo e a mente da forma mais rica (resumamos assim). Pois, então: das duas faces do ‘rosto techno’ há uma que exalta fascinantemente o corpo, na intensidade e no loop que lhe é batido a 4 por 4, e outra que exalta de forma intransigente a alma, pela sobrecarga emocionante de paisagens sonoras tão complexas como as suas, proporcionando-nos uma viagem Maior. Se quisermos, pois, colocar Petar Dundov de um lado ou do outro, não será fácil. Será justo dizer que nos oferece uma exploração complexa da mente, sem margens, com composições sonoras de risco para quem terá de ceder bem mais que o corpo e deixar-se render de cabeça ocupada por sonoridades abstractas, de contornos intensos, dando a outra face à pista. Petar Dundov é música sólida, progressiva, hipnótica - por esta ordem e num casamento a três. Logo, o rótulo “techno” não nos chegará para lhe resumir o histórico de vida e de intenção com que vem a elevar a música de dança. Ele, nascido em Zagreb nos anos 70 (bem antes da actual Croácia ser o pólo de festivais de música de dança que é hoje), conduz-nos a pulso numa progressão rítmica deliciosamente lenta e libertadora, criando compassos de espera para uma intensidade galopante, onde vem a cruzar diferentes influências de diferentes áreas geográficas da globalizada cena electrónica, que ecoam sob o aplauso de “fãs” como Sven Väth, Laurent Garnier, Adam Beyer e Josh Wink, e em todos os festivais e clubes que interessam - marcado também em tempos pelo agenciamento Border Community. No que tem de melódico tem de igualmente explosivo, com detalhes profundamente intensos como nas “antigas” Oasis e Distant Shores, ambas libertadas pela boa e velha Music Man Records, editora belga underground (parte da N.E.W.S.) que floresce nos anos 90 a partir de Ghent e à qual se mantém associado mesmo até hoje, com o seu mais recente álbum “At the Turn of Equilibrium”. Petar Dundov divide-se entre o amor extremado pelos plugs analógicos e os instrumentos clássicos, e desafia-nos tanto pelas suas produções magistrais como pelas remisturas contagiantes - com a recente “Poolside”, extraída da Silver Box que celebra os 25 anos do produtor Secret Cinema (aka Dutchman). God help us, because this name is to be taken very seriously. Let us start by not just praising ‘techno’ for the sake of ‘techno’, a concept to fill one’s mouth and ear. But let’s seriously talk about Dundov’s distinctive touch, that twists body and mind in a most inspiring way (let's summarise it like this). Well, then, we could say that techno has two faces to show at first glance: one that fascinatingly exalts the body, by the overwhelming intensity and loops that hit us in a 4/4 state, and another that exalts the soul, in an uncompromising way, through the emotional overload of soundscapes as complex as his. So branding him in “one cheek” or the other, it’s not easy (or fair for that matter). That been said listening to him closely makes it only more beautiful and moving. Dundov has been showing us, album after album, a complex exploration of the mind: borderless sound compositions, risky for those who are not willing to compromise more than some energetic harm moves on the dance floor, for his abstract sounds and intense contours will take you to a (way) bigger trip than that. He defies us with solid, progressive and hypnotic music - in this order. So labelling him with ‘techno’, as one randomly refers to it, will never pick up his creative ground, his growth and philosophy. Born in Zagreb in the 70s (when Croatia wasn’t this festival-boot-camp that is now), Dundov has been leading us by pulse in rhythmic progressions that come deliciously slow and liberating, paving way for rampant intensities that cross different influences from diferente geographical areas of a global electronic scene, echoing throwout. He’s been in every relevant festival and club that you could mention and his “fan-base” include giants such as Sven Väth, Laurent Garnier, Adam Beyer and Josh Wink. Dundov’s work brilliantly combines melodic and explosive compositions, with deeply intense details that we can still recognise in his "oldies" Oasis and Distant Shores, both released by the good old Music Man Records - underground Belgian label (part of N.E.W.S.) that also released his latest "At the Turn of Equilibrium”. You can hear/feel that he’s torn between the extreme love for the analog plugs and the purity of classical instruments, challenging us with both in masterful productions and glorious remixes - like the recent "Poolside", included in the Silver Box that now celebrates Secret Cinema’s (aka Dutchman) 25 years as a producer. His coming to Lux is not to be missed, and that should be underlined not for this enthusiastic (fan) description, but mostly for all the words that remain unsaid.
