Do caldeirão cultural que é a França, sem igual na soma que faz das culturas a norte, a sul e a oriente do Mediterrâneo, Paris sempre foi mordaz na encarnação de uma música transfronteiriça, bem nutrida pelos seus bairros e vizinhanças que cruzam o mundo inteiro. De uma cena hip hop voraz ao Médio Oriente batido nas ruas, dali sai uma nova encarnação da música e das gentes. E é dela que fazem parte Guido Minisky e Hervé Carvalho - luso-descendente o último, pois claro. Eles são ACID ARAB. Dupla que está muito longe de pretender ser a reinvenção de qualquer coisa oriental ou, com isso, estabelecer a redefinição da música electrónica a ocidente, per si. Acid Arab é um dupla que se pode dizer produto cultural dos dias de hoje. Dois DJs que o eram há muito, residentes do Chez Moune, que se renderam - paixão e pele - a uma música que fez trajecto até cá, “até nós”, com uma bagagem milenar que eles, sim, se predispõem a continuar e a fazer parte, gerando legado e eco também. E fazer parte do “hoje”, implica apenas cruzar todos os tipos de música e códigos do Oriente (seja do Norte de África, Líbano, Egito ou Tunísia, lugar último onde a paixão surgiu) com as maquinarias sintetizadas e analógicas de que o techno dispõe e o acid house impõe, não para recriar nada, mas para fazer crescer tudo. Ampliar muitas vezes com a presença de Kenzi Bourras, na plenitude em que se atinge o transe pela batida e pela dança. O fascínio pelas as composições rítimicas complexas elevam ainda mais o estudo de Acid Arab da música oriental, feita directamente on stage para pista, em estado fresco e do mais puro que se já ouviu. Já os dançámos sob a voz de Omar Souleyman, já batemos o pé a nova release La Hafla (“The Party”) sob a voz do argelino Sofiane Saidi. From a voracious hip hop scene to the Middle East sounds that hit the streets from a kitchen window, here comes a new incarnation of both music and people: a very global one that Guido Minisky and Hervé Carvalho take part of. They are Acid Arab. A duo that is far from claiming to be the reinvention of an eastern scene, or establishing the redefinition of electronic music to the west, per se. Acid Arab is a duo that one can say to be a genuine cultural product of today. Two DJs, for long residents at Chez Moune, who surrendered to a music that paved its way to us with an ancient baggage that they are predisposed to continue and be part of, generating legacy and echo throughout. And being part of it implies only the crossover of many kinds of Middle Eastern music and codes (either from North Africa, Lebanon, Egypt or Tunisia) with synthesized and analog machineries that techno offers and acid house imposes. Not to recreate anything, but to make it grow, often with the presence of Kenzi Bourras achieving fullness as a trio, makeing us reach out trance by dancing. The fascination with the complex rhythmic compositions raises a deeper study of Oriental music, that Acid Arab pulls in he freshest and purest way.
