Santa Apolónia, Outubro de 2015, 7 da manhã. Um cataclismo já com hora e meia de duração vem assolando a pista do Lux, engendrado pelo jovem Kobosil. Com um ímpeto e destreza que a sua idade não pode fazer supor, tem deslindado techno, acid, rave, industrial e EBM perante as expressões ora deliciadas, ora atónitas, dos clubbers. Braços no ar somem-se em nuvens de fumo que as luzes transformam em clarões brancos. É um daqueles momentos que qualquer DJ sonha em conseguir atingir durante a noite, e em que a maioria deles escolheria uma “big tune” para agradar à multidão. Mas Kobosil não é como a maioria. Arremessa uma velha faixa, dos anos 80, dos industrial-rockers Ministry, “We Believe”, onde vozes distorcidas falam do terror de uma jovem geração crescendo num mundo decadente. É um momento que define bem Max Kobosil. É que muito do interesse de Kobosil parece residir nesta capacidade de criar expectativas, e depois superá-las, mas não de forma previsível, antes segundo uma ideia clara e obstinada do que são os seus objectivos artísticos. Max só lançou os 1ºs discos quando sentiu que estava pronto. Só edita onde se sente livre. Só actua nos clubes, eventos e line-ups onde sente poder aprender. Claramente, não se tem dado mal com a estratégia. É residente do Berghain aos 24 anos apenas, lança (apenas e só, tirando o seu selo RK) na Ostgut Ton e na MDR, e já tem um álbum para mostrar, “We Grow, You Decline” (2016), uma idiosincrática e fascinante mescla de techno, EBM, industrial e drone, que demonstram que Max é um conhecedor profundo dos géneros e da sua história. Pela idade, talento natural e visão, Kobosil será tão incontornável do futuro do techno, como os seus companheiros de clube e label mais veteranos se tornaram. Nós acreditamos que Kobosil faz de sobressair da multidão, uma arte. Ele cresce, as dúvidas declinam, vocês dançam. - Nuno Mendonça \\ english version // Santa Apolónia, October 2015, 7 AM. A cataclysm has been laying waste to the Lux dancefloor for an hour and a half now, whipped up by young Kobosil. With a momentum and dexterity that his young age wouldn´t have you expect, he´s churning out techno, acid, rave, industrial and EBM before the alternatively astounded and delighted eyes of the crowd. Arms in the air blur into smoke clouds which turns into huge white flashes as the lights hits them. It´s one those moments any DJ hopes to get to during a gig. And most of them would drop a crowd-pleasing big tune at that moment. Except Kobosil isn´t most of them. He lobs out “We Believe”, an old song from the 80s by industrial-rockers Ministry, where distorted voices speak of the terrors faced by a young generation growing in a decaying world. It´s a moment that truly defines Max Kobosil. A lot of what makes Kobosil so interesting lies in his ability to whip up huge expectations and then surpassing them, but in a totally unpredictable manner, simply by relying on a very clear and single-minded idea of his own artistic goals. Max only released his 1st records when he felt he has a sound of his own. He only puts out music where he feels truly free. He only plays the clubs, events and line-ups that he feels he learn from. And clearly, this strategy has been paying off. At only 24 years old, he´s a Berghain resident , releases only (besides on his own RK stamp) on Ostgut Ton and MDR, and already has an album to his name, “We Grow, You Decline” (2016), an idiosyncratic and fascinating mix of techno, industrial, EBM and drone, which demonstrates Max has a lot more baggage than simply a passing knowledge of the genres he employs and their history. Because of his age, natural talent and vision, Kobosil will be an essential player in techno´s future, as much as his older label and club peers have become.
