Yao van den Heerik
Yao van den Heerik graduated from the Dutch Design Academy in 1998. Until 2004 he worked as a designer at his design studio in Rotterdam. After transferring the business to his partner he and his wife travelled to the Magreb where they worked for a British adventure travel agency. In 2007 they founded a development NGO in Ghana to the benefit of preschoolers and street girls. Returning to the Netherlands in 2012 their fused interests resulted into layered manufacture with clay. In 2014 VormVrij®|3D was established and the 3D clay print technique they developed was commercialized in a Prototype Printer with the name LUTUM®.
