The garden's name is inspired by the tragic love of to-be King D. Pedro I, with noblewoman of Spanish parentage (Inês), who would be later murdered.

This was the first Medieval garden to be totally rebuilt in Portugal, inspired by illuminated manuscripts, tapestries and epoch literature.
