Obrigada por seres tu mesmo, Omar. É um agradecimento justo, em jeito de sempre presente reverência. É bom tê-la e mantê-la, é bom demonstrá-la. Porque Omar S é quem é, e isso basta. Basta que abrace a música com a paixão que tem, basta que se exprima sem rodeios, todo ele cru, autêntico. E basta que nunca lhe baste, que não lhe assole o comodismo, que continue a trazer os ecos de Detroit para o mundo – a cidade natal e cidade a que é leal, embora lamente o fraco interesse norte-americano no que faz. O resto do mundo, porém, parece estar de ouvidos completamente sintonizados na fusão de influências que se traduz em música que tanto pode ser uma meditação profunda sobre o House, ou simplesmente batidas despidas e fortes, em visões Techno aguçadas. Emoção, e uma boa dose de realidade. Com a sua FXHE Records, criou uma plataforma de lançamento não só da sua música (se não entenderam a primeira frase deste texto, é na FXHE que podem encontrar um álbum intitulado “Thank U For Letting Me B Myself” – explicado não vale, o melhor é irem escutar) como também de outros artistas: por lá passaram em início de carreira nomes como Jus-Ed, Kyle Hall ou Seth Troxler, que continuariam o seu percurso para serem eles próprios artistas de referência. Mas voltemos a Omar S, e a este seu regresso depois de noites passadas em que deixou a pista rendida. Os discos que traz são aqueles em que acredita, os que escolhe meticulosamente como ferramentas do seu trabalho. Agradecemos-lhe, mais uma vez. Antecipadamente. It’s a fair “thank you”, with a kind of reverence that’s good to have and keep. Because Omar S is simply who he is, and that’s enough. It’s enough that he embraces music with all the passion he’s got, it’s enough that he expresses himself without hang-ups, the whole of him raw and authentic. And it’s enough that it’s never enough, that he isn’t plagued by self-indulgence and that he keeps bringing echoes from Detroit to the world – his hometown and the city he’s loyal to, even though the United States seem to have a pale interest in the city’s musical outings, when compared to Europe, which seems totally in tune with the influences he welds together to create sounds that can range from a deep meditation on House, to bare and hard hitting Techno visions.
