Weekender Lisboa • It Don't Mean a Thing

FHow many times do we dance without really hearing and reacting to the music?  This workshop focuses on how  dancing is influenced by the music it was born from.  

How does musical structure affect our dancing?  What are breaks and how do we use them?  How can we play with our footwork to express what the music is saying?   What about rhythm variations?  How can we change the way we move to be more in tune with what we’re listening to? 

The goal of this weekend workshop is to answer these questions and more with two of the top Lindy Hop instructors in the world, both of them extremely rhythmical and musical.  And because we believe that working on this on your own is essential to being able to do it with a partner, this workshop includes both solo and partnered classes.

Level 1: Beginner-Intermediate / Intermediate: You’ve been dancing Lindy Hop for 8 months or more.  You’re still working on growing your vocabulary and getting the essence and rhythms of Lindy Hop into your body.  You haven’t done much solo dancing or connection work.

Level 2: Intermediate-Advanced / Advanced: You’ve been dancing for at least 1 ½ years and are very comfortable with all your Lindy Hop Basics and some variations, as well as concepts about connection and technique.  You have done solo dancing and connection work and understand how these influence and affect your partner dancing.

Total of 5.5 hours of classes: 2 hours of solo and 3.5 hours of partnered Lindy Hop for each level
