https://www.youtube.com/@klugcultureWomen Reclaiming the Arts" is an annual Festival that takes place every Fall in Thessaloniki, Drama, Greece, with a view to offering the stage to women artists and helping them find their voice. It made its debut in 2024 offering women artists a stage of freedom of expression and a channel of communication with audiences. Next to our goals concerning female empowerment in the arts, our 2026 edition lays emphasis on our opening up to European artists, attempting collaborations that will result in invaluable networking, cultural exchanges and freedom of artistic expression. By doing so, "Women Reclaiming the Arts" will offer inspiration to the local community, which it will try to include in its activities. A channel of artistic and cultural dialogue between the hosted artists and the community will be a primary objective.
Katerina Gourgioti:
Co-Director WRA Women Reclaiming the Arts
Katerina was born and raised in Greece. Early on in life she pursued a career in the banking sector, which she decided to give up in 2010 in order to dedicate herself to things that had always appealed to her but she never had the time to seriously delve into. Namely, arts management and community work. In 2013 she founded cultural collective “Art n Roll” and in 2022 she cofounded non-profit civil company “KLUG”, for both of which she has acted as Project Manager. Both cultural organisations have been very active pursuing their goals in arts promotion and community bonding. From 2015 to 2023 Katerina has managed “Tentart” arts festival in the city of Drama, Greece and from 2024 to the present day, she has managed “Women Reclaiming the Arts” festival, which is dedicated to female empowerment in the arts. “Art n Roll” and “KLUG” have also designed and implemented arts education programmes for school children, which have been funded by the Greek Ministry of Culture, such as a stop-motion animation creation project, a bucket drumming project and a sound design for the cinema project. In 2022 Katerina also co-designed and managed a cultural programme for the City of Drama, named “Summer in the City”. Finally, she also runs “Kat’s Space” - a small-scale cultural venue in Thessaloniki, which is a private living room. There, she has hosted ThessFringe shows and unplugged concerts. Katerina is also a mum, an amateur drummer, a seasoned dancer and dancing teacher, a dog lover and a tennis enthusiast.
