Tudo isto será importante porque, já agora, o nome não lhe resume a obra ou a origem do passaporte, pois também não se faz segredo que Jacques Greene não é o nome próprio do artista, mas um nome de reinvenção pessoal. Uma assinatura e uma nova aura, mais completa, absorvidas que foram as influências que o catapultaram para a house music em 2010, com um twist que contrariou toda a descrença numa jovem promessa anteriormente ligada ao espectro do RnB e hip-hop. A vida que ganhou depois de Hovatron – o seu nome de arremesso, reputado nas pistas de dança de Montreal onde começou – deixou só coisas boas: realmente boas, para trás e para a frente, onde agora o encontramos. Greene é um maduro resultado de estrada e de originalidade, que conquistou casa a casa de forma quase contagiosa e com audiência alastrada, rendida à fusão de ritmos two-step com sintetizadores de encher o peito, que podem fazer vibrar do deep techno ao soul, sob o remate das vozes RnB sampladas de forma inesquecível como as de Tinashe e How To Dress Well… vozes frescas para a dita cena house, mas pondo o público na ponta dos pés a dançar um bom dançar. Porque flow tem ele, sobretudo ao vivo, carregado de maquinaria e beats explosivos. As mãos no ar o dizem. Reconheceram-lhe o talento os Radiohead, que lhe pediram para contribuir para o seu King of Limbs Remix Album, e os The XX, que o levaram em tour. E rodados que foram os principais palcos europeus, Jacques Greene vem arrebatar-nos a pista e deixar o cunho da sua Vase ecoar pelas paredes por muito e bom tempo. Sim, Agosto, precisávamos disto. All this is important because, by the way, the name does not resume the man, his work or origin, since it’s not that of a secret that Jacques Greene is not what is written on his birth certificate: Jacques Greene is personal reinvention statement. A signature and a new aura, a fuller one, that signs his consolidation in house music from 2010 onwards, giving a twist in his career that made counteract all the disbelief in such a young promise, previously linked to spectrum RnB and hip-hop. Hovatron (his previous alias while playing in some of the most well reputed dance floors in Montreal) made him inherit really amazing technical and crowd-pleasing skills, and musical influences that put now Greene as a matured result of touring and creativity, conquering every dance floor in a contagious way and widespread his audience, surrendered to the merge of two-step beats with synthesizers that fill your chest. Now he can actually go from deep techno to the core of soul in a night, pitching sampled voices like Tinashe and How To Dress Well in between... refreshing voices to said house music and clubbing scene. In those terms, he always puts the audience on their tiptoes to dance with a good flow, particularly live, where he comes armed with full of electronic machinery and explosives beats – the hands in the air don’t lie. Radiohead recognized his talent, asking him to contribute to their King of Limbs Remix Album, and The XX too, led him on tour with them.
