Sophia Sumburane: Tote Winkel (Blind spots)
Conversation and reading with a German feminist writer
in English and German
The author Sophie Sumburane was born in 1987 in Potsdam/Germany, has a degree in Germanistics and African Studies from the Universität Leipzig. She is a PhD candidate in Forensic Linguistics at the Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt. In addition, she is an editor and anti-racist activist.
We'll be talking about her latest novel "Tote Winkel", about the theme of violence addressed in it, such as domestic violence and racism, about the life of a writer of feminist crime novels, about why she put a content warning at the beginning of her book as well as about current developments in Germany with a right wing with increasing election results.
The talk will be in English, the reading in German and a written translation will be provided by the students of FLUC's Master of Translation programme.

em inglês e alemão
A autora Sophie Sumburane nasceu em 1987 em Potsdam/Alemanha, é licenciada em Germanística a Estudos Africanos na Universität Leipzig. Doutoranda em Linguística forense na Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt. Adicionalmente, ela é editora e ativista antiracista.
Vamos falar sobre o seu último romance „Tote Winkel“, sobre o tema de violência abordado nele, como por exemplo violência doméstica e racismo, sobre a vida de uma escritora de novelas policiais feministas, sobre o porquê de colocar um aviso de conteúdo no início do seu livro tal como sobre os desenvolvimentos atuais na Alemanha com uma direita com resultados eleitorais crescentes.
A conversa será em inglês, a leitura em alemão com disponibilização de uma tradução escrita pelas/os alunos/as do Mestrado de Tradução da FLUC.
