EM OBRAS - Laboratório experimental Exposição Final ABERTO | 4-5-6-7 Novembro 2021, das 16:00 às 20:00 ENTRADA | Livre INFO | www.zaratan.pt Temos o prazer de anunciar a exposição final do laboratório experimental EM OBRAS, que decorreu durante 13 dias na Zaratan, e contou com a participação de João Borges, Carmen Bioque Zurita, Catarina Costa, Elise Carlton, Felix Vong, Hoana Bonito, Rosana Arifin. Longe dos métodos tradicionais de ensino, o laboratório enfatizou a prática, a improvisação, o debate e a colaboração. A discussão das obras de arte, as suas qualidades formais, o significado que cria, o ambiente envolvente, o trabalho do artista e o do espectador - todos estes assuntos têm características educacionais e são exemplos da abordagem curatorial de Zaratan às atividades de formação. Não se trata apenas de organizar a troca de saberes, mas antes de tudo, criar espaços discursivos: um contexto aberto para a existência da prática artística contemporânea. Após um intenso período de trabalho coletivo com 5 artistas / formadores, a galeria da Zaratan configura-se num palco para os participantes partilharem com o público as atividades desenvolvidas durante o workshop, onde o espaço físico é preenchido com pensamento e produções transversais, individuais e coletivas. BIOGRAFIAS: CATARINA ALVES COSTA (Canada, 1992) Mestre em Arquitetura (2016) pela Faculdade de Arquitetura da Universidade do Porto (FAUP). Doutoranda no Programa de Doutoramento em Arquitetura (2018) e investigadora do grupo Morfologias Dinâmicas do Território no Centro de Estudos em Arquitetura e Urbanismo (2019) da FAUP. Curadora, com os Professores e Investigadores Luís Viegas e Rui Américo Cardoso, da exposição "e-Nunciar FLanhas: tópicos desenhados" (2019) na Fundação Instituto Marques da Silva e com participações e publicações em congressos. Particular interesse nas temáticas: Arquitetura do séc. XX, Tradição e Modernidade, Artes Plásticas, Formulação do Saber, Multi-, Pluri-, Inter- e Transdisciplinaridade. ROSANA ARIFIN é nascida em 1999 e reside em Ljubljana, Eslovênia. Estudante de mestrado em Arquitetura na Faculdade de Arquitetura em Ljubljana, atualmente é estagiária em dois estudos de arquitetura, com uma experiência de intercâmbio no estrangeiro. Tem participado em várias exposições coletivas e instalações arquitetónicas, onde a relação com a arte contemporânea cruza-se com a investigação e a exploração espacial. O seu pensamento criativo tenciona fugir dos percursos pré-estabelecidos. Ao aproximar as relações entre o espaço, os materiais e as comunidades, procura o equilíbrio precário entre as flutuações, as temperaturas, e as atmosferas que a rodeiam. HOANA BONITO estudou artes visuais na sua cidade natal, na Universidade de Brasília. Atualmente é aluna do Mestrado de Práticas Artísticas em Artes Visuais na Faculdade de Belas Artes de Évora. Artista, fotojornalista e pesquisadora, encarna diferentes papeis em torno da observação. A sua prática artística inclui performance, pintura, arte-educação, instalação, desenho, cinema entre outros. Dedicou-se a levar o universo artístico e a fruição estética à comunidade invisual através do ensino da Fotografia e da História de Arte. As suas experiências práticas e investigações científicas pensam como a interatividade pode (trans)formar pontos de vista. JOÃO BORGES (Lisboa, 2000) terminou o ensino secundário no ano de 2020 com o curso de Artes Visuais e especialização em Produção Artística têxtil na António Arroio. Estudo Design de Moda e Têxtil na ESART durante um ano, antes de tomar a decisão de dedicar-se ao estudo e a prática das artes visuais. O seu interesse pela arte têxtil perpassa pela sua capacidade de veicular narrativas poéticas e culturais. As relações entre os tecidos e as novas tecnologias permitem-lhe intensificar as dinâmicas interdisciplinares, num entrelaçamento contínuo de materiais reciclados e conteúdos poéticos. ELISE CARLTON é uma escritora e artista visual nascida em Houston, Texas, residente em Lisboa, Portugal. O seu trabalho escrito foi publicado na Poet Lore. O seu trabalho visual foi exibido na Inglaterra, Finlândia, México, Portugal e nos Estados Unidos, e publicado nas publicações de Londres, Roundtable Journal e Brenda Magazine. Trabalha maioritariamente com texto, ilustração, animação, instalação e escultura. Ela é queer (eles / ela) e índia com múltiplas heranças (destribalizados, racializados). CARMEN BIOQUE ZURITA obteve recentemente uma licenciatura em História e Prática da Arte e Design na Kingston University, Londres. Atualmente é mestranda em Arte Multimédia na Faculdade de Belas Artes de Lisboa. Interessa-se pela interação das artes visuais, design, som e espaço; na imagem em movimento, na poesia visual e nos ensaios visuais. A sua prática oscila entre a escrita e a criação visual através do design gráfico, fotografia, desenho, colagem e imagem em movimento. Reivindica a valorização da comunidade e do coletivo, considerando os estímulos culturais como fontes de um significado vital e, como tal, detentores de um capital social indispensável. FELIX VONG nasceu em Macau, onde obteve uma licenciatura em design gráfico e publicidade. Atualmente vive em Lisboa, onde é mestrando em Arte Multimédia na Faculdade de Belas-Artes, na especialização em fotografia. Através do estudo, da investigação, e de experiências práticas procura continuamente gerar novas aproximações ao médium fotográfico. Recentemente passou a interessar-se pela imagem analógica, não só no sentido literal (a utilização da película fotográfica), mas também no sentido expandido, através da manipulação da imagem impressa em colagens, livros de artistas e outros trabalhos tridimensionais. [EN] EM OBRAS - Laboratório experimental Final Exhibition OPEN | 4-5-6-7 November 2021, 16:00 - 20:00 ENTRADA | Livre INFO | www.zaratan.pt/en We are glad to announce the final exhibition of the experimental laboratory EM OBRAS, which occurred during 13 days at Zaratan, and counted with the participation of João Borges, Carmen Bioque Zurita, Catarina Costa, Elise Carlton, Felix Vong, Hoana Bonito, Rosana Arifin. Detached from traditional teaching methods, the laboratory emphasized practice, improvisation, debate and collaboration. Discussion of artworks, its formal qualities, its environment, the meaning it creates, the work of the artist and the viewer – all these have educational features and are examples of Zaratan's curatorial approach to educational activities. The aim is not just to organize the exchange of knowledge, but first of all, to create discursive spaces: an open context for the existence of contemporary artistic practice. After an intense period of collective work with 5 artists/trainers, the gallery space of Zaratan became a stage for the participants to share the output of the activities developed during the workshop, where the physical space is filled with thought and transversal productions: both individual and collective. Curator, with researchers Luís Viegas and Rui Américo Cardoso, of the “e-Nunciar FLanhas: tópicos desenhados” exhibition (2019) in Fundação Instituto Marques da Silva. ROSANA ARIFIN was born in 1999 and resides in Ljubljana, Slovenia. MSc student in Architecture at Faculty for Architecture in Ljubljana, currently interning in two architecture firms, with a summer study abroad experience. She has participated in several collective exhibitions and architectural installations, where the relationship with contemporary art intersects with research and spatial exploration. Her creative thinking intends to run away from pre-established paths. By bringing together the relationships between space, materials and communities, she seeks the precarious balance between fluctuations, temperatures, and atmospheres that surround her. ELISE CARLTON is a writer and visual artist born in Houston, Texas, living in Lisbon, Portugal. Their written work has been published in Poet Lore. Their visual work has been exhibited in England, Finland, Mexico, Portugal and the US, and published in London-based publications, Roundtable Journal and Brenda Magazine. They are queer (they/she) and multi-heritage Brown (detribalized, racialized). They work mostly with text, illustration, animation, installation and sculpture. HOANA BONITO studied visual arts in her hometown, at the University of Brasília and is currently studying the Master of Artistic Practices in Visual Arts at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Évora. She has dedicated herself to bring the artistic universe and aesthetic fruition to the blind community through the teaching of Photography and Art history. Through performance, painting, art education, installation, drawing, cinema and other media, the artist, photojournalist embodies different roles around observation and how interactivity can (trans)form points of view. JOÃO BORGES (Lisbon, 2000) finished in 2020 a course in Visual Arts and specialization in Artistic Textile Production at António Arroio, in Lisbon. He studied Fashion and Textile Design at ESART for a year, before making the decision to devote himself to the study and practice of the visual arts. His interest in textile art permeates his ability to convey poetic and cultural narratives. The relationships between fabrics and new technologies allow it to intensify interdisciplinary dynamics, in a continuous interweaving of recycled materials and poetic content. CARMEN BIOQUE ZURITA was born in Córdoba, Spain. She has recently completed her BA (Hons) studies in History and Practice of Art and Design at Kingston University, London. She is currently a Master's student in Multimedia Art at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lisbon. Interested in the interaction of visual arts, design, sound and space. Her practice oscillates between writing and visual creation through graphic design, photography, drawing, collage, moving images. Her work demands the appreciation of the community and the collective, asserting that from an existential point of view cultural stimuli is what brings us vital significance and as such it holds an indispensable social capital. FELIX VONG was born in Macau, where he obtained a degree in graphic design and advertising. He currently lives in Lisbon, where he is attending a Master's degree in Multimedia Art at the Faculdade de Belas-Artes, specializing in photography. Through study, investigation, and practical experiences he continually seeks to generate new approaches to the photographic medium. Recently, he became interested in the analog image, not only in the literal sense (the use of photographic film), but also in the expanded means, through the manipulation of the printed image in collages, artists' books and other three-dimensional works and practices.
