Sinopse
M. se libertou do medo da violência doméstica, mas entrou em conflito com uma sociedade profundamente machista e um sistema judicial que não protege as vítimas. Ainda assim, M. conseguiu encontrar forças para seguir em frente, talvez não apenas para si mesma, mas para algo maior. A história dela pode ser a história de qualquer vítima.

Synopsis
M. broke free from the fear of domestic violence but clashed against a deeply male chauvinist society and a judicial system that fails to protect the victims. Yet M. managed to find the strength to move on, maybe not only for herself, but for something greater. Her’s could be the story of any victim.

Sinopse
O curta mostra a evolução da diretora, desde a infância até o momento em que decide que não quer mais ser humana, resolução tanto política quanto provocativa. Sua história é contada junto com a da humanidade, a relação entre humanos e animais, a obsessão taxonômica do homem que nos faz constantemente classificar, definir e, em última análise, excluir. O curta é um olhar irônico sobre questões como a crítica antiespecista e a busca por uma identidade.
 
Synopsis
The short shows the evolution of the director, from her childhood to the moment she decides she doesn’t want to be a human anymore, resolution both political and provocative. Her story is told alongside that of humanity, the relationship between humans and animals, man’s taxonomic obsession who makes us constantly classify, define and ultimately exclude. The short is an ironic outlook on issues such as the anitispecist critic and the search for an identity.

Sinopse
Em uma carta cinematográfica ousada e sincera para sua mãe, a cineasta Amina Maher revela o mais doloroso dos segredos de infância. O filme explora a confusão de gênero, sexualidade, culpa e repressão em relação à violência e identidade. Letter to my Mother é um meio de sobrevivência, uma maneira de se levantar, falar e compreender. É uma tentativa de quebrar tabus e ultrapassar limites - sociais e pessoais, e de criar vida e arte a partir das experiências mais sombrias. Há momentos em que o próprio cinema parece implicado nesta história difícil, mapeando o abuso que começou no momento exato em que ela aparecia em Ten de Abbas Kiarostami (2002), que apresentava a relação na vida real entre Amina e sua mãe.

Synopsis
In a bold and heartfelt cinematic letter to his mother, the filmmaker Amina Maher reveals the most painful of childhood secrets. The film explores gender confusion, sexuality, guilt and repression in relation with violence and identity. Letter to my Mother is a means for survival, a way to stand and speak up and to understand. It is an attempt to break taboos and push boundaries – both social and personal, and to create life and art out of the darkest experiences. There are times when cinema itself seems implicated in this difficult story, charting abuse that began at the exact time she was appearing in Abbas Kiarostami’s Ten (2002) which featured the real-life relationship between her mother and Amina.

Sinopse
Bajo la piel une sensações que levam Eva ao abissal de suas entranhas, como aqueles seres luminosos que vivem sob as águas profundas. Todos os dias são uma dança, a rotina deixa de ser e o gesto torna-se ritual. O tempo e o espaço se transformam e Eva viaja pelas estradas e memórias que o corpo habita.

Synopsis
Under the skin links sensations that take Eva to the abyssal of its entrails, like those luminous beings that live under the deep water. Everyday it’s a dance, the routine stops being and the gesture makes it ritual. Time and space transformed and Eva travels to the roads and memories that the body inhabits.
