“A Cidade Sem Pessoas Não é Cidade” | Exposição Colectiva de Fotografia Percebemos a cidade como uma grande rede de trocas e encontros. Troca-se tempo e trabalho por um espaço na cidade, o mercado e o consumo delimitam os usos das ruas e dos prédios. Mas é no meio deste cotidiano funcional que encontramos também as trocas de afeto e solidariedade. As marcas e os gestos ficam impressos na camada urbana. A máquina se esquece que, apesar de tudo, são os curiosos olhares e os longos abraços que faz com que muitos chamem as cidades de lar. Não serão esquecidas as estórias de vida e de morte de quem constrói tudo isso, de quem a vive todos os dias, de quem veio de longe e nela encontrou alguma gentileza. Se a brutalidade do dia-a-dia é o que faz a cidade ser apenas um amontoado de pedras e lucro, é o nosso companheirismo que faz com que a cidade possa ser um espaço de força e dignidade. Junta-te a nós no Curious Monkey na quinta-feira, 2 de Setembro às 18.30 para a festa de abertura de “A cidade sem pessoas não é cidade,” uma exposição colectiva de fotografia. @sundayshorts também exibirá duas selecções de filmes como parte da exibição. A exposição durará os próximos dois meses, por isso estás à vontade para passar por cá quando puderes apreciar as fotografias destes 11 maravilhosos fotógrafos. Sunday Shorts também vão exibir estes dois curtas experimentais que documentam o quotidiano de uma cidade e das suas pessoas antes da sua iminente destruição devido a mudanças industriais. ____ “The City Without People is Not a City” | Collective Photo Exhibit We understand the city as a place of encountering and exchange. Time and work is exchanged for space in the city; the market sets the use for each street and building. But in the middle of this functional routine, the exchange of affection and solidarity can be found. The gestures are visible marks in the urban layer. The machine forgets that the curious gaze and the warm hugs are the reason many call a city home. The stories of life and death of those who build the city won't be forgotten—the stories of those who come from afar and experience compassion. If the brutality of the daily life is what makes the city be nothing but stone and profit, our fellowship is what will turn it into a strong and dignified place. Join us at Curious Monkey on Thursday, September 2 at 6:30pm for the opening party of “The City Without People is Not a City,” a collective photo exhibit. @sundayshorts will also be screening two film selections as part of the exhibit. The city has been confronted with a massive population decline, and is deemed a prime example of the so called “Stadtumbau Ost” (Urban Redevelopment East). Gascoigne | Directed by Julia Frances | UK 2019 | 16 minutes A 1:1 format film depicting the daily lives of the occupants of Gascoigne estate in London before it gets demolished, with a narration spoken from the point of view of the building.
