Soft Pastel Workshop with Minela Reis.
In this Workshop it is intended to learn this dry painting technique. Soft Pastel has been around for 250 years. Many Painters including Edgar Degass used this technique.
Soft Pastel is a dry medium made of pigment and binder, that offers a total purity of colors.
These are intense, stable and durable, they can appear in different sized bars and in pencil format.
It is versatile and we can work with saturated tones and overlapping the colors. It can also be used for drawing.
This immediate response on paper is part of the nature of this wonderful medium.
To use soft pastel we require a proper surface, and to finalize we use fixative.

2- To learn about the different paper supports to use depending on your needs.
3 - How to start and finish a soft pastel artwork.
4 - Storing and framing your works.
Minela Reis
Born in Angola, has lived in Portugal since 1982. Since childhood she liked to paint and draw. She is a professional painter and teaches painting techniques at Tela - Espaço de Criação Artistística, an Atelier and Gallery of art of which she is the founder.
