|| ENG || Monica Saba presents her first exhibition in Lisbon ++ Strati ++ (the layers) are what makeup and characterize us. Some come out naturally and are in perfect harmony with the external context. Others could bring to the surface contradictions and generate an overall inconsistency. Some layers we would rather not have, and we try to scrape them off, but they remain visible along with the attempt to be erased. Other layers are more superficial and we use them to try to mask those that do not spontaneously adapt to the surrounding environment. Exhibition • • • Monica Saba - @monicasaba.art • • • Born in Sardinia (Italy) in 1993, Monica Saba first approached Contemporary Art on canvas in 2020 as a self-taught artist, after years of experimentations with various media and techniques. Her expressive work results in spontaneous and intuitive hand gestures that usually do not involve any precedent planning. What mainly drives her in the creative act is a pure desire for inner exploration, understanding, and liberation, which is always reflected in her interaction with the canvas. Through the built of different layers of paint, she aims at highlighting the contrast in colors, textures, and shapes, as well as capturing the movement. For the realization of her artworks, she typically uses traditional media, such as acrylic paint and oil pastels. Algumas surgem naturalmente e estão em perfeita harmonia com o contexto externo. Outras podem trazer à tona contradições e gerar uma inconsistência geral. Existem algumas camadas que preferimos não ter e tentamos raspá-las, mas estas permanecem visíveis em consonância com a tentativa de serem apagadas. Outras camadas são mais superficiais e usamo-las para tentar mascarar aquelas que não se adaptam espontaneamente ao ambiente circundante. O seu trabalho de cariz expressivo resulta em gestos manuais espontâneos e intuitivos que geralmente não envolvem nenhum planejamento prévio. O que principalmente a impulsiona no ato criativo é um puro desejo pela exploração interior, compreensão e exoneração, que sempre se refletem em sua interação com a tela. Por meio da construção de diferentes camadas de tinta, ela visa destacar o contraste de cores, texturas e formas, além de capturar o movimento. Para a concretização das obras, ela costuma usar meios tradicionais, como tinta acrílica e pastéis a óleo. Monica vive atualmente em Lisboa, Portugal.
