Farbe oder Farbe : Color o Pintura

Acompáñanos el jueves 29 de junio durante la inauguración de la muestra individual "Farbe oder Farbe" del artista austríaco Gerald Roßbacher. Roßbacher será el primero de tres artistas internacionales que expondrán este año en Veinti4/Siete Galería.

Roßbacher es músico y artista en nuevos medios con una maestría en artes visuales de la Universidad de Arte en Linz y estudios en arte transmedia de la Universidad de Artes Aplicadas Viena. Actualmente dirige KLUCKYLAND con la artista y colega Andrea Lüth, un espacio dirigido por artistas abierto al discurso artístico y la experimentación fuera de los límites confinados de una galería o institución.

“Farbe oder Farbe” (Color o pintura) muestra su búsqueda constante del significado y el uso del color en el mundo digital. Farbe, una palabra alemana con un significado dual, puede implicar tanto color o pintura según su contexto. El título constituye un juego de palabras con estos dos significados, ¿Qué es el color? ¿Qué es pintura? Roßbacher está explorando cómo la representación del color en el dominio digital es equivalente al simple acto de colocar color sobre una superficie.

Su pieza “Question to the world” (Pregunta al mundo), toma el uso de la pintura sobre una superficie para generar una pintura a través del reflejo de su entorno sobre la pintura misma. “Color exercises” (Ejercicios de color) forma parte de una serie de bocetos digitales de programas generativos que exploran la representación del color en el espacio digital. En “Farbe oder Farbe", Roßbacher utiliza estos medios para desafiar y confrontar el significado y el uso conceptual de la pintura y el color.

El artista nació en St. Pölten, Austria y actualmente vive y trabaja en Viena.

Please join us on Thursday June 29th, for the opening of Austrian Artist Gerald Roßbacher’s Solo Show “Farbe oder Farbe”. Roßbacher will be the first of two more international artists who will have a show this year at Veinti4/Siete Galería. He was born in St. Pölten, Austria and currently lives and works in Vienna. 

Roßbacher is a new media artist and musician with a Master’s in Visual Art from the University of Art in Linz and studies in Transmedia art from the University of Applied Arts Viena. He currently runs Kluckyland with fellow artist Andrea Lüth, an an artist-run space for artistic discourse and experimentation outside the confined limits of a gallery or institution. 

"Farbe oder Farbe" shows the artists ongoing search for the meaning and use of color in the digital world. Farbe, a german word with a dual meaning, can mean both color or paint depending on its context. The title implies a play on words with these two meanings, What is color? What is paint? Roßbacher is exploring how the representation of color in the digital domain is equivalent to the simple act of placing color on a surface.   

"Question to the World", takes on the use of paint over a surface to generate a painting through the reflection of its surrounding upon the paint itself. "Color Exercises", is part of a series of digital sketches of generative programs that explore the representation of color in digital space. In "Farbe oder Farbe" (Color or Paint), Roßbacher uses these mediums to challenge and confront the meaning and conceptual use of paint and color.
