No seu programa semanal na rádio NTS, THROWING SHADE cruza temas tão diversos como o jazz muçulmano ou as melhores covers de Bob Dylan, revelando subtilmente o seu conhecimento enciclopédico, sendo que recentemente, a sua musica foi também comissionada como parte do prémio Turner Prize na Tate. TAXILA faz parte do duo programador de WATERFALLS. ☀ JACKIE (49 ZDB – 00H20 ) JACKIE e o seu colectivo Grrrl Riot, fazem parte do incontornável clube portuense Plano B desde há 4 anos, sendo responsáveis pela ascensão local de nomes como Xosar, Nadia Ksaiba e Hannah Holland, bem como de outros produtores e DJs internacionais. Os seus sets, estranhamente balançados por texturas abstractas e hipnotizantes, trarão à WATERFALLS uma surpreendente selecção que promete extrapolar-nos para além de qualquer expectativa: da métrica pura de Detroit, às incursões diagonais de batidas trap inesperadas ou à aditiva acidez árabe, JACKIE promete espalhar intensidade pela cave do 49. JACKIE também faz parte do colectivo Thug Unicorn e é regular na noite Kub. ☀ TZAZIKY&CRACK (Warmup) Chega directamente de Milão com representação de Dafne Boggeri, designer e membro do duo responsável pela festa Tomboys Don’t Cry. ☀ RAP/RAP/RAP (Aquário ZDB – 00h00) Numa mistura de paisagens sonoras naturais, surrealismo tropical e batidas house/hiphop desconcertantes, RAP/RAP/RAP aka Tiago Rodrigues, ascendeu rapidamente na cena electrónica underground lisboeta através das editoras Golden Mist, AVNL Records ou Interscape. Podemos realçar o seu album Killing (Golden Mist) recentemente catapultado para a selvajaria da internet, que nos surpreende com a sua sensibilidade suculenta e uma mistura firme de sons boogie reinventados, sonoplastia de video jogos, e colisões de bateria e sintetizadores. Inspirada por gráficos de computador e uma sensibilidade pós-32 bits, a musica de RAP/RAP/RAP transpira sinestesia, sendo este concerto a oportunidade perfeita para explorar o vortex sensorial do seu trabalho. ☀ VOLCANIC ORCHESTRA com CARLOTO COTTA e JOSÉ BRAIMA GALISSÁ (49 ZDB- 23h) Após actuações na WATERFALLS #0 e #1, temos o prazer de receber novamente dois dos membros da mutante e efémera VOLCANIC ORCHESTRA: CARLOTO COTTA e JOSÉ BRAIMA GALISSÁ. Cotta regressa com o seu hang em forma de OVNI, um tambor de aço com um som semelhante ao da panela de aço das Caraíbas, desta vez tocado com as mãos. Um ano após a primeira noite WATERFALLS, a sua performance voltará a encher o 49 com a manipulação de baixos mornos e ressonâncias subaquáticas. Já o Sr. Galissá tocará a sua cora, um instrumento de 21 cordas cuja riqueza do som ‘tudo cobre’ com as suas raízes na tradição oral da África Ocidental. Her own sets are weirdly balanced by abstract and compelling textures, and for Waterfalls she will bring an astonishing selection from her archives to 49’s dancefloor, ensuring it is thoroughly shaken out of its expectations. From crunchy Detroit techno to spacey off-kilter staccatos, left-field trap to addictive acidic Arab, the DJ will disperse some unexpected musical drama into our cave. Cotta will be returning with his UFO-shaped hang, a hollow steel drum with a similar sound to the steel pan but played by hand. A year after opening the first ever Waterfalls, his performance will again fill the bar of 49 with warm bassy manipulation and watery resonance. Improvising with him in the main bar and continuing solo afterwards, Senhor Galissá will showcase his kora, a 21-stringed instrument whose rich sound ‘covers all’, and which has deep roots in West African oral history.
